Predictions on when ALL restriction are lifted

As most of us have lots of time on our hands and many have expressed opinions on CV19. Let’s have people’s predictions on when all restrictions are lifted you have to pick a week. I am not sure the winner will get a prize but in difficult times they get to look smug On the basis we are only at the start of it IMHO I am going

WC 7 Sept

Last week in August 2021, IF we're lucky & IF a viable vaccine or treatment is widely available.

If they're not, then never.

The week this virus decides to fizzle out on its own like they all do eventually?

Except coronaviruses don't generally fizzle out, tend to mutate & the human immune system doesn't appear to be very good at building up resistance to them.

And having a holiday in Venice or New York?

I've cancelled all plans for overseas trips for the next 12 months & expect (hope) restrictions will be applied regarding ALL inward & outward movement from the UK until such point as any resurgence of the virus is considered highly unlikely.

Judging by the ongoing homebrewing thread, it's absolutely essential that the lockdown continues for at least a few more weeks, in order that people are able to fully appreciate the fruits of their labours before they're expected to start driving again. And that's just for the beer. The wine makers are going to want several months.

I think middle of May 2020 - all governments are just waiting to get back to normal, hence placing their economy before their people. I think the old and the vulnerable will go under the bus (certainly in this country) and in doing so will save the government money immediately and in the future. The feeling from what I hear and read is that there is a growing number of people who would accept that.
My wife is in the vulnerable group and hasn’t left the house for 4 weeks now, but if the children are allowed (and expected) to go back to school to further spread the disease, we cannot guarantee that it won’t enter our household - despite our best efforts.
I think what I’m trying to say is, when someone spouts herd immunity is the way to go and a natural global cull is necessary for Mother Nature to reset things, you’re not considering fully what you’re advocating - but hey, if you’re alright Jack then that’s ok.

"We will have to maintain some level of social distancing indefinitely until we have a vaccine available," Professor Neil Ferguson, Imperial College London, speaking today.
