Predictions on when ALL restriction are lifted

Here's out national treasure. He isn't too happy either and he's in the high risk group.

I’m in the same category, high risk but I’ve no intention of spending the rest of my life huddled in the house just in case.
That’s my choice to make, not yours to force on me.

We are witnessing the loss of hard fought for freedoms and civil liberties and decline of democracy. Once people are given power, and I don't mean authority, (there is a difference), they are unwilling to relinquish it ! We see this manifest by the delegation of 'power' by central Government to local Authorities/Councils to determine how we go about our daily lives.
The population generally have acquiesced in this errosion of freedoms and at some point will look back in fear an wonder....'how did we get here, how did we let this happen' ?
I do hope I am mistaken for the countrys and it's inhabitants sake.
2020...Hope for the best, fear for the worst !
I thought Brexit was supposed to solve all that

Brexit gives us the opportunity to restore democratic accountability but it isn't automatic. It will certainly never happen while we remain in the EU, but even outside it depends on whether the electorate are willing to hold the political establishment to account and whether the political establishment will listen to the electorate or be dictated to by the metropolitan media bubble as happens now. I don't think committed Brexiteers ever had any illusions about that.

The Covid fiasco will be a good indicator of how much or how little has changed. Boris Johnson is an oddity. On Brexit he appears determined to stick to his guns (time will tell), but in the way he has mishandled C19 suggests that on other issues he remains as in thrall to the news headlines and the pen-sucking TV studio pundits as any of his predecessors, allowing himself to be blown hither and thither by the short term news cycle resulting in incoherent policy with zero strategy.
Neither Labour nor the regional governments are doing any better. Their policy making is as skewed by their various partisan agendas as Johnson is by the media circus.
It is increasingly clear that extricating ourselves from the supranational dictates of the EU is only removing the all-encasing outer layer of a very rotten onion. Our entire political class and our Whitehall civil service isn't fit for purpose either.
Some form of federalism is probably the only way to save the union of the crown, and covid has made it clearer than ever that centralism is a failed concept. But two monumental things need to happen to create a decentralised, federal future where the electorate is written back into the process: we need an English Parliament and an entirely new breed of politician across the board who are capable of looking forward to a system that works, not backward and clinging to a model that has failed.

Predictably, the country's 'brightest and best' now starting out at Uni just can't help but think that the warnings don't apply to them

Ah yes lockdown, well 6 months after a vaccine if all goes well and should our Democrat party win the white house lockdown will NEVER end.
