Red list update, Friday 26 November 2021​

South Africa, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Namibia and Zimbabwe will move onto the red list at 12.00 midday Friday 26 November.

There will be a ban on all direct commercial and private flights from these countries from 12.00 midday Friday 26 November to 4am Sunday 28 November.

If you have been in any of these counties and arrive in England between 12.00 midday on Friday 26 November and 4am Sunday 28 November, you:

• must follow special guidance on how to complete the passenger locator form
• must quarantine at home or at alternative appropriate accommodation
• can get free PCR tests to take during quarantine

If you have been in any of these countries and arrive in England after 4am Sunday 28 November, you must quarantine in a managed hotel. You must book a quarantine hotel package, including 2 COVID-19 tests, before you arrive in England.

Yeah not good is it, on the other hand dying isn't that great.
As for all you travellers, why the hell should you be allowed back in to the uk after travelling abroad, without having to be tested multiple times and a full 10 days days in an isolation hotel at your expense is beyond me.
I wouldn't have shut the country down, but I'd certainly have shut the borders around xmas 2019

Isolation at home is a far more comfortable option with me paying for the security checks on me to ensure that I am not misusing the system is imo fairer and at a far lower cost than chugging sarnies in a Premier Inn.

Sadly travel restrictions are far too litlle far too late and will have minimal affect on the overall disease.

45,000 ofd cases reported. Ie somebody has taken a test and then uploaded results to powers that be. How many have tested +ve and not reported results, and how many haven’t tested as they are not even aware that they may be positive.

Omicron is spreading very fast and most of us will be exposed to it. Hopefully prior exposure to other variants, vaccines and boosters will mean a lower rate of seriously ill people and death rate, but those are still going to be high numbers.
