Rifle sling issue

I usually stalk Roe and use my .243 bergara with a nice leather sling and it’s very comfortable and sits on my shoulder well. It got bumped by a friend the other day and I haven’t been able to check zero so last night I took my 7mm-08 Cooper with the same sling. It was awful! So top heavy and kept slipping round. I tried it barrel down but that kept slipping too! It does have a large mod on it. With my roe sack and carrying my sticks it wasn’t much fun trying to scan with the thermal. I did get a nice little buck though… Any thoughts?

Thank you for the suggestion. This looks like a solution if I wasn’t wearing a roe sack. Am I right in that it places the rifle in the centre of your back?
You're welcome. It kind of does, keeping the rifle lying on one side so the bolt can't dig in your back. I use them for rifles burdened with heavy night vision scopes. My solution is the Ogdens Roe Sack which sits in a waist pouch until needed then to carry the rifle on one shoulder back to the car when the sack is in use- that or to drag the beast instead. Easier with both hands free!

I like the idea of being able to pull the running loop of the sling over the head, show in this video.

They look good, Any UK distributor

Not that I know of. You could replicate the idea with a webbing strap but probably not going to work as well as the material that they use.
Ive made my own loop (hold back) where it attaches to the bottom swivel and then clips into a clip I have sewn onto the top of the sling but I like the idea of just pulling the sling over the head

I've used one of these for nearly ten years, no-slipping at all.
I also employ it as an old fashioned stabilisation system when shooting, even when on Viper flex sticks with a fifth leg.

Simple to make.
Belt with hook on it to go around your waist. Piece of old boot lace attached to hand grip of stock. Shoulder rifle and attach loop to hook and weight and friction keep it on. To release just push base of butt in and lace will fall off the hook.

Ditch the sling completely. Carry the rifle African style on your sholder barrel forward with hand on moderator, or in the crook of the arm like you see old photos of Soldiers carrying the SLR.

If you have a heavy moderator you really need to have a barrel band sling swivel - makes a rifle so much nicer to carry. Doesn’t affect accuracy unless you put tension on the sling.
