Gloucestershire, Nr. Cheltenham, Saturday the 25th. July 2015 PM:
Having set up on the sticks, wind in my face, cover in my back, I started calling. After some 10 Min I did hear movement very close behind me (10-12 yards maybe!) , as if a deer was trotting away through the high grass, assumingly after having winded me. By the time I had turned 180 degrees it was gone, but some 30 Yards away, where there is a gate, I could hear a sound as if someone was rattling the gate, repeatedly. This went on for some 10-12 minutes, quite unnerving actually, as I couldn't see the (assumed) Roe buck, just heard it trashing the gate with its antlers. Cover was too thick to see it even with the Thermal viewer, and the encounter was over. This spot requires a re-visit in a week or so.
Sightings of a Muntjac doe + follower who spotted me first (Barking!), a fox, and a Muntjac buck (Barking!) , but after I had unloaded the rifle on my way back to the car.
Nothing shot.
