Roe rut possibly starting?

Forgot the Buttolo AGAIN last night and only had the cherry wood caller in my bino pack. Same roe buck as a couple of nights ago but this time with 2 does, not 3. Absolutely no reaction to the cherry wood peeps, same as before 😒

Went for a look round last evening. My young chap took a walk past a wild bird cover to have a look over the hill for possible Fallow. The wind was into the cover. Nothing to see in the valley so he walked back the same way. He got to the truck put the rifle in and up jumped a big palmated buck and pricket only 30 yds from us in the cover and took off. We couldn't stop laughing. We sat there in the truck and tried a few Roe calls as there is a cracking buck in the area, and we wanted a look at him not to shoot him.
First respondent was a biggish Roe kid, he disappeared and then the doe appeared. She went and up the adjacent track came the buck, he is a beauty and possibly a high medal in my estimation.
A little later along the river I spotted a young buck I have seen with a doe lying in the short wheat. Gave him a few calls but he just had a look at us and never moved. However his doe came flying in but he didn't even follow her. It's always interesting to watch Roe at this time but due to low numbers we tend just to take the odd buck later on. There were more Fallow about but mainly does and fawns and a few bucks in places where a shot was not feasible.

Not a bit of interest in calling at the moment as far as bucks concerned. One little doe charges about to a call but everything else can't be bothered.

Had two bucks charging in to Buttolo caller this morning. The does didn’t seem to fussed just ears pricked up but no movement. I’ve been trying every three or for days since about the 20th July. I never get the same reaction on an evening FYI.

Yep another blank here today aswell, if im honest its quite disheartening really as I'm yet to witness any form of rutting behaviour at all ever, apart from about 3 bucks I've called in, but I live in hope every year!

Seen a doe in the middle of a golf course at about 4:30pm didnt see a buck but behavior wise was indicating something was behind her / was being chased.

Funny enough probably 75-100 yards from that point, there was a wedding going on with bagpipes playing, lol.

Hampshire again on the meadows next to the Avon.
Supposed to be clearing a few fallow prickets but had the Buttalo and Cherry Wood with me so sat in high seat using both every so often. After 45 minutes a doe came in followed by an older scrappy buck with poor and abnormal antlers that I'd seen a couple of months ago so I took him.
No other interest at all, saw a fawn that paid no attention to any call.
Group of fallow came out on dark on a neighbouring property so packed up and started back, Had a final glass of a field and saw a roe buck, not really interested in pheeps but started walking to a doe distress call. More of a curious amble as opposed to being full on interested. Got him to a suitable place and shot him, just a youngster with thin antlers.
Four bucks in four days, happy with that.

In full swing in West Sussex, called those to about 15 metres...

Yep it’s def on. Strolled up to an area can glass a good few rolling fields and shaws. Buck and doe chasing hard. 250 yards. Good steady prone shot but decided not to as in standing wheat. Tried to call buck in but just Couldn’t. They laid up a while and I got him to his feet with the rape call. Then a couple of steps forward. Doe must have said something because he looked at her then went back and laid down. Not for moving. Another time

Drove back down farm tracks to home. Went for a wander to find farmer in yard He has changed padlock on one of the gates and i don’t have the key yet. Not there. As usual. So abort plan for that area. Walking back to truck and see a couple of patches in the cut barley the combine must have missed. About 150 yards from my house. Sloppy I think. Hang on a mo! That could be deer. Yep Binos confirmed decent buck with doe. Pretty flat and no backstop. Except the village. Grab rifle. Run in to house up to gunroom above garage. Open window. Can’t see them. Tree in way. Booger. Out the house and drive truck onto edge of field. Drop rear gate and climb up with rifle on bipod on roof. Now they need to move forward about 60 yards and left about 60 and they Will be in a nice safe dip

After a bit of running in circles they oblige. A shout stops them and the 7mm Rem Mag does its work

A slightly unusual head for round here. Very typical of the roe I used to shoot near Shere. Antlers very close together and straight up with no Y shape

So that first buck I couldn't pull off the doe, here he is. Yep another time

Called 3 in tonight. Wouldn’t say they are full bore but definitely starting. North west lancs

Its been ongoing in S glos for at least a week. Watched a buck chasing a doe with the thermal last night. Tried to call a fox in instead a doe came in and then scared witless as a buck started grunting behind me. Must have come 50 yds from the hedge behind me.!
This evening dog walk resulted in seeing 13 roe. I called a v pretty doe and kid in over several hunderd yards. Watched a good buck at 130 yds who completely ignored all calls. Then saw a stunning 6 pointed couched up with a doe nearby. Managed to get a glance from a call however young doe appeared out of wood behind him.
At 9.30pm almost home I watched a good buck tailing a doe in the field I videoed him rutting last year. So I think in places rut is over in others still well.on

Doing my rounds on the birds this morning and noticed lots of roe fawns on there own which usually means only one at this time of year, I would say the rut is full on in my part of the world.

I think its finished in South Glos.
Last night watched a big buck couched down with 2 does in attendance. No reaction at all to a Cherrywoid caller.
Other roe completely oblivious to caller.
Normal behaviour at night when watching with my thermal.

Gents, it tends to go quiet on the buck side of things post rut. When do they start to reappear after they’ve recharged?

Obviously you get some indications of a ‘false rut’ in September too
