I use 28 gm 7.5 in fibre, for nearly all my shooting, sometimes I have a sipe 6 32 gram in the top barrel..
cyl/1/4

On club marsh's I know use 36 gm 3 and 4's 1/4-1/2. I do down to 32 gm on the flt ponds as they are coming in paddles down lol....
I will matter not what you use when you miss....

And Rough shooting could include the odd Duck Goose or Snipe so Non Toxic Cartridges would legally have to be used :thumb:

Haven't got any waterfowl on my farm down here, however, i do carry steel cartridges with me all the time, just in case.
Rough shooting for me is the odd pigeon flying by, rabbit, all the vermin and the game birds when in season.

From my quiet extensive experience, 7.5 shot at going away quarry is very questionable and WILL lead to a lot of pricked birds. You will probably Think that you missed when you didn't! 7.5 shot is for snipe and clay shooting. Rough shooting needs to cover all eventualities and that means something bigger with considerably more penetration.

I use gamebore pigeon extreme, but my mate who been shooting since he was 9! Is now a game keeper hand always uses rc cartridges and I used them last week with him for pigeon shooting and must say was impressed

Clear pigeon in 6's 32 grm fibre wad should fit the bill £55 for 250 when I got some last month.

depends on you and your gun

30's could be too much for either

I personally use 28-30gr 6's with fibre wads
cant stand the thought of chucking yet more plastic into the environment
Lead is a naturally occuring substance and in the density a shot gun chucks is inconsequential by comparison

A 1oz to 1 1/16 oz (28 to 30g) load of lead no 6 works for me. Preferably fibre wadded as well.

Havent yet found a reliable non-toxic version to use on wildfowl, so I shoot them over land, which we can do here in Scotland.
