SACS what do they actually do ?

Its only me that posts under David BASC

But this has nothing at all to do with the OP, nor the other genuine questions asked of Ian yesterday.

The BASC firearms team post in the legal section, maybe that's where wires got crossed? No harm done

But , when your tone comes across to me as aggressive and rude, it does have a bearing on how I view your points .
Fortunately the site owners offer an option that allows me to ignore you and that is now activated
Cheers

The same of course applies to all of us, we are free to ignore points or comments that others post, just as you chose to ignore the fact I had recognised my error just a couple of posts later…

Anyway, lets drag this back to the point, I wait with interest to read the answers from Ian to the genuine questions asked…

You may have to wait a while as SACS don't appear to have a lot of overpayed staff sitting about waiting to blow their own trumpets on forums,or so it appears from following this thread.
fully paid up BASC member.

Yep,, like any other forum member I post when I can and when I choose, many times at night, at weekends and bank holidays. Still that's a small issue, the big issue is why the CEO of SACS is making claims of treachery about the LAG...if you are prepared to make such statements you should he prepared to back them up, well that's my view anyway.

David i do think BASC are fighting a lot of causes but i am not seeing them win any. Might they be to mixed up in there aims.

At least they are fighting for us. Lets face it we have enough campaigns against us at the moment and when the Badger cull gets going its only going to hot up.

Its a shame the bulk of shooters pay there dues to one or other insurer and think "I've paid, go get em"

Well done BASC, I am yet to see any other organisation on the news or radio to anywhere near the degree of BASC. Besides it is probabaly up to the broadcasters who they want to invite onto their screens. I left BASC for a year for a cheaper insurance deal but quickly returned, I like to think I am helping to give our sport a stronger public voice.

:thumb:We all need a strong support for our sport and passion, so may everybody decide, which organisation is doing it the right way in the opinion of every member.... Stop bitchfighting, that weakens us all!:cuckoo:

So you seriously consider somebody who has never used a firearm before but passes the DSC1 (formal training) is competent to go out and shoot??? In your dreams pal!!!!!!

I wouldn't say he suggested such a thing. Anyway Level 1 is a doddle, but some of the sites I saw on the shooting test made me cringe. So in some way I do agree that a training course is no substitute for experence, in my mind, theory and practice should complement one another.

My point exactly! Folks think because they pass level 1 they're fit to go out on their own and shoot, I was asked to mentor a guy he took level 1 went out once with me and thought he knew it all. He asked me to take myself off his ticket as mentor which I did. Next thing the police were on the line asking how many times he'd been out, my honest reply was once with me and once with a stalker. Why? Simples he'd decided to get rid of the 243 he had and replace it with a 270 and insisted the police give him an open ticket because he has level 1. They refused so he came back at me asking me to mentor him again. I refused point blank because I knew he was spinning the feo a line. So now he's got open on his 22 rimfire and closed conditions on the 270 until the feo is satisfied.Personally I wouldn't trust him with a pop gun!!!

Tony,

Im not saying that atall, but i do believe the person passing the level 1 is streets ahead of the guy opening the envelope of his new fac with regards to gralloching and recognising any potential disease within the animal, deer recognition etc than the person of identical experience prior to the level 1
