Shooting show 2013

just got back home, will not be going again.
Access just over 2 Hrs to get in from the main Dual carriageway, turned away from two entrances.
One copper we passed standing in the middle of the road trying to guide traffic just stuck his hands up and said "F**K IT" and just sat in his car.
I didn't think that there were as many exhibitors as last year.
Food was S**te, why are we to be served crap. Surely with it being a shooting show and that ethos we should have stalls selling decent grub, like venison burgers etc.
we were 1 mile from it at 10.20 and got in at 12.40 they still had the gumption to charge 17.50.
Just not good enough last time my money, time and patience will be wasted on this show.

Traffic management non existent. No marshalling at the cross roads outside the entrance. Went into first car park on the left, got thrown out - only for KC dog owners. Why didn't it say that at the entrance then?
Long entry queue for pre paid tickets. Paying cash Sir - straight on through ha ha.
Halls absolutely rammed. I got caught in a wave of people and was swept pas the stand I wanted to stop at. Bought a sausage sarnie and a video off Mike. By 13.00 I was heading for the car park.
Not a waste of time, I did get some info that I wanted and a lead on a full body panel set for my quad, but that aside, it was impossible to shop. Too many people.
Went to look at a car on the way home and that was a dog too. So, 4x4 show at Donington next week, hope that's better. Certainly cheaper.

the traffic management was non existant. took me an 20 mins to get in to the hall as for 17.50 to get in, aint that bad.
you pay that for most game fairs in the mud and rain.
but there were too many people in the halls, getting on some of the stalls was a no go.
shame really, i thought this would or could have been a great day out and put stoneliegh back on the map.

Same as above: prepaid tickets and priority parking. Car parks full so had to park on far side of muddy field. Left early due to volume of people there, only to find entrance booths locked - and side gates open!!. Late arrivals just walked straight in.
If you go tomorrow, go after 1pm and you'll get in free.
Absolutely disgraceful.

went to newark last year, great venue, was looking forward to the show
was shopping for a .243
came home empty handed
drove 72miles in an hour and 10
last mile over an hour.
was glad i ad not paid for priority parking as we were all in the same car park together
45 mins queue to get in.
hall 1 was like being at the rugby at twickenham
gamekeeping hall was emptier, no heating in there perhaps or no shiny rifles and shotguns for airsoft players to droll over, whilst serious buyers cant get to the stock, waited 15 mins for a member of staff senior enough to unlock the rack. Gave up, 2 out of my car were in the market for guns with cash and licences in pocket, both emptied handed
feel sorry for the retailers and other buyers
good day spoilt, either back to newark or nec or stay at home.

I'm wondering if I went to the same show! A short queue to get in, a bit of a walk across the show ground to the main entrance -but nothing to try the patience or bother the legs. Then straight in with pre-paid tickets, handed a complementary -and really good- show guide, and it was time to explore. Once in, there was more than enough to keep me interested and amused all day. And at the end I had no trouble at all getting out again after it closed at 4:30. Maybe I was lucky, but I'm going back again tomorrow to see/do the stuff I missed today.
It does sound like traffic and parking need a bit of a re-think for net year, but it's been so long since we had a dedicated shooting show that's this well supported by both the trade and the public, I think there's more to be happy about than to complain over.Then again, plenty of people seem to be happiest when they're moaning!

I left my house at 8 am and was parked by 8:30am
the parking had a lot to be desired for... did make me chuckle
the show itself OK but venue not at all suitable for the needs as the show was badly sign posted and halls were properly mix and match
prepaid ticket queue bit of a joke as no one one in the cash queue and you could walk right in
i do feel every one had the same idea and go on Saturday thinking it will be less busy

priority parking a joke infact parking attendants said there was no priority parking available so go inside and ask for a refund
poor layout when in the show ground and even poorer signage when trying to find your way out of the show ground
people getting stuck everywhere as asked to park on saturated grass areas and verges , also cars parked miles away from the show ground as no adequate parking was available

i visited the show today and god it was busy, either with the rain we had. I dont find any amazing barrgins but there was a few good offers. It was disapointing that my FAC wasnt back from west mercia though.
I throught that the show poorly organised, the car parking was basicaly a joke, they closed all the car parks which just coarsed a long delay on the roads around the show ground. People where parking where ever they could, then after a long wait they reopen the car park and just left people to anywhere they liked.
Just felt for the money they charged it was poor.

Could not agree more. Took us nearly an hour to get in, and car park one was a long way from the show.
Go early and get as close as you can.

I went to the last, but one, at Newark. When they had the Fishing Show on the same weekend. Had no chce as had to collect and deliver a gun to Ladds of Crediton who were attending that year's show.
Made a vow then that it wasn't worth the cost of the admission. So even though Stoneleigh is but thirty to forty minutes drive away the admission price put me off.
Thank you ALL of you who posted here with your experiences. It makes me feel so much better that I didn't go to Stoneleigh. But is is a real shame as our sport really does need a true national showcase event.

I agree on the parking. But we got there for first opening and flew in saved £60 on the stuff I brought. Not massive but still savings and got a good price on some Zeiss and Swarovski glass.
