I know that most of this conversation is about mechanical extraction, but as a manual operator my vote is for the larger Jet Sled. One of the first things I did with it was to screw slips of timber under the lip round the edge to reduce unwanted flexing and put a piece of ply on the inside of the front face to spread the load when pulling. It has been towed on grass by car and 4x4. I can use it in summer time to bring tools in for high seat work. I can put two fallow does in when culling whereas I wouldn't be able to drag two by hand. It will take 65kg sika stag or fallow buck, (or two if two people are pulling) and I agree with the point about tipping it on its side to load. Finally on boggy or flooded ground it floats!
It sits crossways across the car when the back seats are down, and with a bit of manoeuvering you can lift the front of the loaded sledge into the back of the car and then lift the rear end and slide it in . I did once use it as an aid to loading a red stag into a disco using a block and tackle secured around both front door pillars.
