Space Bar on my Mac not working in PM reply - only on SD

I had this happen a couple of weeks ago whilst using Iphone to post. It seemed to resolve itself?

I am using a Mac and Chrome and have had no problems with spacebar with PMs

OSX 10.8.5 Chrome Version 49.0.2623.112 (64-bit)

Tab does not seem to work though...

I've had the same space bar poblems recently here on SD. Using PC & Chrome. --- Very frustrating!
It would be nice to hear from site Admin what is being done to cure it.

Sometimes it's just a bit of dirt under the key, easy enough on a Mac to lift the key and have a clean, YouTube is a great source of help.

Sorry, and I appreciate your input, but how does this "bit of dirt under the key" appear when I (and others) are only using SD?

VeryVerySpecialDirt
Because it vanishes on the second line. Every time.
i would normally use a Hoover as you suggest, but 0x0D 0x0A seems to work just as well

I've read the vBulletin thread but there doesn't seem to be a fix except from turning WYSIWYG off

Helpfully I don't have a Mac either ... have you tried turning WYSIWYG off? You can try by clicking the A/A (top left) button.

Just use Chrome on a PC to recreate it. This is using Explorer & is fine

It it is worth switching that off. If the issue only arises on this forum I'd say it was to do with the forum settings. I just turned sticky keys on by the way and couldn't type at all! Not a thing. Go to simple text box and see if that works.

I have it enabled and don't have an issue, but clearly there's a conflict between forum, browser and machine. This may just fix it.

I am using Windows 7 (32 bit) Ultimate & it doesn't happen if I type before the quotes like this first line when replying with quotes.

BUT

QUOTE=csl;1200688]I use Chrome on a Windows PC and its fine!

Now after a carriage return it works again. :suss:
Looks to me like some numpty has screwed the host site programming.

I have this problem using chrome and windows 10. However if you just go to the drop down menu for font size and click on one everything works as normal. It's a small pain but not enough to annoy me.

Alex - Where is the mythical "A/A" button you keep mentioning? I might try it if I can find it! BUT I do resent having to do work rounds for other peoples' incompetence!
There is always the probability that me changing stuff on my machine will have negative repercussions elsewhere on my system which I try to keep all as standard.
