Stalon Moderator

I also had a similar incident withmy 243. You should report the RFD to the HSE.
He has a duty of care and has seriously ****ed up.
You also have an injury claim.

If they give you any **** just let a solicitor deal with it.

Sorry for sounding a bit harsh, but you have been very lucky. Where did the secound round go?

I just ordered a Tikka T3x lite in stainless, every one I saw for sale both new and used said m14 x 1 thread, my RFD ordered me a M15 x 1 Tikka T3x lite in stainless .223, I wanted the M15 x 1 so I had common threads with my Blaser barrels. Tikka is also selling 2 different barrel twist options.

I think there is no standard with Tikka and that it is possible to get different threads.

Hope you are OK, your RFD needs to solve this issue.
Very strange! There seems to be a right good mix just in this thread alone!

Thank you - a broken nose I suspect but that heals for free… the moderator on the other hand I suspect will be a costly affair!

I’ve never been a huge fan of complaining, particularly when I believe my lack of knowledge played a part in it. However, firing £400 into the abyss and a literal slap in the face is hard to stomach…

The second round was off a metre or so to the left, fortunately it zero in an old quarry and had nothing but sand banks for it to hit

Lucky for you, if that had gone off into the far yonder!
Its not your fault and dont let them tell you otherwise.

These people need to be called out and have there licenses revoked.

They are causing issues and all I got was a shrug of the shoulders and sorry mate.
I should have gone legal, but I was in such a shock!

The other thing is contact Stalon direct and tell them the experience you had with the gun shop.

And I have to brake the news to you, but you will have to do a Like for Like variation.
Ring your Firearms Officer and tell him as well what has gone on.

Mine was pretty understanding, but furious with the gun shop!

Hope this helps and sorry for the **** show. Stallon mods are brilliant by the way.

Not necessarily, if the mod doesn't have a serial number and the RFD agrees to replace it with like for like, then he can take in the used one and scrap it and hand out a new one. No serial numbers to change and same make and calibre on the OPs FAC. All perfectly above board.

What are the first 2 letters/number from your serial number? The SV in the UK has been imported in 2 threads from the factory, but also some long barrelled were imported unthreaded.

Hmmm.
By coincidence I bought a Stalon last year for my .308 in 1/2 inch by 20 UNF - the RFD was 30 miles from me and when I got it home it didn’t fit! Somehow it had been put in the wrong box - as delivered with his order of 12 other Stalons - in my case apart from another 60 miles trip no harm was done as it simply wouldn’t go on the rifle.
I am no engineer but am very curious as to how the offending mod affixed to the rifle on an incorrect thread in the first place though…

This is where my lack of experience comes into play!

Trusting the experts that it was right, I put it on over the barrel and twisted away happily. Mod goes tight - happy days.

It’s only after that I have sat down with somebody with more knowledge and experience that separated the two halves of the mod and showed me that it was only threading on a small amount.

We live and learn I guess!

Hard lesson indeed. Have you damaged the threads on either then? I imagine the sudden and abrupt “unscrewing” may have caused an issue….
