Isn't that how the RFD got it wrong in the first place, far easier to just measure the thread on the rifle. All Tikka are imported through GMK. Check with them the specs.

Thank you for this! It helps knowing that im not just going mad!I have a T3X veil that is factory threaded
5/8-24 UNEF and have a Stalon moderator also 5/8 24-UNEF. Moderator goes on with no issues.
Very strange! There seems to be a right good mix just in this thread alone!I just ordered a Tikka T3x lite in stainless, every one I saw for sale both new and used said m14 x 1 thread, my RFD ordered me a M15 x 1 Tikka T3x lite in stainless .223, I wanted the M15 x 1 so I had common threads with my Blaser barrels. Tikka is also selling 2 different barrel twist options.
I think there is no standard with Tikka and that it is possible to get different threads.
Hope you are OK, your RFD needs to solve this issue.
Thank you, I didn’t know this. I’ll do some digging! All Tikka are imported through GMK. Check with them the specs.
Believe it or not, the RFD I went to (and gunsmith!!!!!) didn’t have the tools to measure it!Isn't that how the RFD got it wrong in the first place, far easier to just measure the thread on the rifle.
And that says it all in a nutshell!Believe it or not, the RFD I went to (and gunsmith!!!!!) didn’t have the tools to measure it!
I’ve never been a huge fan of complaining, particularly when I believe my lack of knowledge played a part in it. However, firing £400 into the abyss and a literal slap in the face is hard to stomach…I also had a similar incident withmy 243. You should report the RFD to the HSE.
He has a duty of care and has seriously ****ed up.
You also have an injury claim.
If they give you any **** just let a solicitor deal with it.
Sorry for sounding a bit harsh, but you have been very lucky. Where did the secound round go?
Lucky for you, if that had gone off into the far yonder!I’ve never been a huge fan of complaining, particularly when I believe my lack of knowledge played a part in it. However, firing £400 into the abyss and a literal slap in the face is hard to stomach…
The second round was off a metre or so to the left, fortunately it zero in an old quarry and had nothing but sand banks for it to hit
Not necessarily, if the mod doesn't have a serial number and the RFD agrees to replace it with like for like, then he can take in the used one and scrap it and hand out a new one. No serial numbers to change and same make and calibre on the OPs FAC. All perfectly above board. And I have to brake the news to you, but you will have to do a Like for Like variation.
This is where my lack of experience comes into play!Hmmm.
By coincidence I bought a Stalon last year for my .308 in 1/2 inch by 20 UNF - the RFD was 30 miles from me and when I got it home it didn’t fit! Somehow it had been put in the wrong box - as delivered with his order of 12 other Stalons - in my case apart from another 60 miles trip no harm was done as it simply wouldn’t go on the rifle.
I am no engineer but am very curious as to how the offending mod affixed to the rifle on an incorrect thread in the first place though…

Hard lesson indeed. Have you damaged the threads on either then? I imagine the sudden and abrupt “unscrewing” may have caused an issue….This is where my lack of experience comes into play!
Trusting the experts that it was right, I put it on over the barrel and twisted away happily. Mod goes tight - happy days.
It’s only after that I have sat down with somebody with more knowledge and experience that separated the two halves of the mod and showed me that it was only threading on a small amount.
We live and learn I guess!
By some absolute miracle, neither show any signs of damage!Hard lesson indeed. Have you damaged the threads on either then? I imagine the sudden and abrupt “unscrewing” may have caused an issue….

Hi Chris, the first two are ‘AF’ - hope this means something to youWhat are the first 2 letters/number from your serial number? The SV in the UK has been imported in 2 threads from the factory, but also some long barrelled were imported unthreaded.
Lucky boy! I have seen some real damage over the years on range days when mods turned into Bolting Rabbits!By some absolute miracle, neither show any signs of damage!

Sadly, I suspect you’re right…Who the hell matches threads from serial numbers!?
That said the user is responsible for checking things fit
I can see what the dealer/importer and stalon will say…..
“Not our problem…..”
