Taking 2 rifles stalking?

Does anyone take 2 rifles with them whilst stalking (or sitting in a high seat)? Thinking a rimfire or FAC air to knock down some squirrels and rabbits whilst waiting for the deer to appear
my life is already complex enough, that would just be way out of what would make things enjoyable:-D plus, I love the quiet wait until deer may or may not appear, it’s my thinking time away from work and family

My advice is to target one species per sitting .
Chill

Yes that is good advice, risking a shot at a lowly rabbit on the way to a deer seat is plain silly to me for obvious reasons.

That in itself whether a deer show or no show is often a fantastic way of just enjoying life, there are many more things that go with a deer 'sit and wait' for those that take the time to actually see them and hear them.

BUT if I am sneaking into a dog trapping zone I do take my 7mm as well, there just may be a 'good un' sighted on the way,its a pita carting two rifles but taking just the 7mm to do both jobs does show what a 7mm does to a dog at close quarters. Splash!
however I still remember my mate that came to Vic on a 6-7 hour drive to hunt deer a few years ago,he showed me pics one of a dead fox he shot whilst stalking "because there were no deer around"

I did say "well you fkn guaranteed that"

It’s called a combination gun. I take a 7mm and 16 bore with me most time I go hunting. Blown chance at a stag or buck, chance of a grouse or pigeon on way home:)

I have a Brno 12 bore over .222Rem, and absolutely love it. But, interestingly, I have almost never fired both barrels/calibres in the same session: if I am out after Muntjac, then the .222 barrel is loaded, but I hate having that barrel loaded if I might take a shot at a bird: just too easy to squeeze the wrong trigger.
So I carry a couple of 12 bore cartridges in a pocket, but only load them after I have “given up” with the rifle.

As long as it's not too far to walk to the highseat I will take a .22lr for plinking while waiting for something else to show up.

I should clarify this I do this in locations where seeing/shooting a deer are quite low and the rabbits and squirrels need controlling. If I'm heading somewhere I know I'll find deer then I generally stick to the CF rifle.

Ill use my .17hmr on foxes out to about 60metres but anything much more and certainly over 100 metres the .223 just gives you that reassurance

Agreed if you need reassurance, I am quite happy with .17HMR results from chest shots at foxes out to 150 yds (which I zero at).
