The Creedmoor conundrum

Funny old things these ere 6.5 Cm's I have two friends that use them. Different rifles one uses 120gr Sako powerheads the other uses 120gr Hornady soft points. Strangely when out with me
(On separate occasions) they each shot a fallow doe at virtually the same spot in the same field, and the does ran and dropped within 5 yards of the same spot. Both chest shot, hearts wrecked and lower lungs hit, both ran 100yds. Last time I shot one in that field with .243 and 90 gr Sako SP in chest, it leaped in the air, hit the ground and collapsed. I just don't think that field loves man bun guns.😀

To my mind the .257 Roberts aka The Bob is probably one of the best medium game rounds ever made in regards to accuracy and power, sadly overlooked by today shooters and gun makers!

There is nothing wrong with the man bun gun (how rude ). I got one last year and shoot 140gr ELDX ..pretty well everything I have shot from 30 yards to 300 yards hasnt gone more then 20 yards (fallow and roe). I am bald so maybe thaths why it works for me lol 👍

Discussed many times here..the 6.5s will drop the deer and plenty other calibres....depending on person squeezing the trigger and the state of the animal too has a bearing..

I shoot in areas where longer shots across valleys are the safest and best option. 400m is quite normal in these plantations and the 6.5CM works really well at that. There is always some wind and high BC also helps with Energy at the distance. High BC is a bonus from the muzzle onwards, doesn't harm at shorter ranges.
These two were taken at around 400m from across the valley, just about not visible at shorter ranges. This is a fenced in area that is supposed o keep deer out.

Nice work fella 👍

It depends on what distances you normally shot at.

I use 6.5x47(very close to a cm)
Also use a 6.5-284(very close to a prc)
And a 270

Both 6.5 are more accurate and easier to shoot than the 270

I can notice the difference that the 47 has less clout at distance. It is a short rifle, so I normally use in woodland that I shoot in and the distances are seldom over 200m and more likely to be 100m

I only use the 270 because my employers give me no choice.

My favourite is the 6.5-284. Easy to shoot. The most accurate rifle I have used. If I ever change this it would be the 6.5prc
