Time for some new Wellies .... Recommendations ?

Had some Grubs Riverline for the last 4 seasons which have been dry, comfortable and warm but now ripped and punctured on neoprene sides so considering full length replacements that will also cope with brambles etc. better as well as deeper water.

Having been happy with Grubs and possibly sticking with the brand, their Highline look to fit the bill as replacements but some of the "Grubs" reviews in general are a little off putting, not sure if they have changed manufacturing process since last purchased as these have been faultless.

Any recommendations for something that will suit requirements without having to sell a kidney, Need to be warm and comfy as can put some miles in on some shoot days.

I've had a few pairs of Grubs but the last Frostline ones have been disappointing. The sole has parted from the upper after far too short a time and they have not had a hard life. Used nearly daily but not on rough ground.

My wife has a pair of Aigle and she takes considerable pleasure when she points out she's on her original pair when I am through two pairs of Grub boots ....

Sdf concensus is Skelkerup quatros.
About £100 very warm. Solidly built good fit but tad heavy. Brilliant in mud.

Jesus, are they now £100? I think mine were about £55 but it was about 7yrs ago. Which is testament to how good they are. I have given mine a total beating and they are still warm, comfy and watertight.

Must say did look at the best Decathlon neoprene wellies whilst in their Oxford store. They looked very good. They stock a large range. I think my Quatros were £90 but haggled a deal. Cheaper on line

Hoggs of Fife Field Sport Neoprene-Lined Wellington Boots. Vibram soles for excellent grip. Comparatively good value at £85. Mine are 4 years old and are holding up well. They are quite heavy, but that's par for the course for neoprene, I think.

These are the heaviest wellies I’ve ever owned.

Mine only lasted about 8 months.

Do not under any circumstances buy the Hoggs. I had 2x pairs before the Quatros. In both cases R heel foot bed collapsed with a few months and both leaked. Partners niece is on x3 replacement pair of ladies version within one year. All had leaked. It looks and feels a lovely boot but workmanship and design is severely compromised.

I wear weeklies most days either walking the dog or shooting/ fishing

Having owned Hunter Balmoral, Aigle Parcours, Le Cham Leather, Muck Boots, DecathaLon plastic, both aigle and hunter were crap with aigle the worst.

Decathalon by far the best value and Le Chameau the most resilient of the ruBuber boots

I've destroyed 3pairs of £90 Muck boots in as many seasons beating.... I now use Aldi £25 neoprene wellies, lightweight & warm & even if they only last a season they're obviously cheap enough to stock up. My first pair having endured 2 seasons are battered & ripped but still leak free.

Have a look at the neoprene lined Goodyears - not at all expensive but very nicely put together - I bought a pair for the wife at the start of winter and she loves them.
