Trophy Import ban (continued)

Ive posted this on another thread (theres about 4 about the same thing )

Just a thought ! Some of us on here are emailing our own MPs trying to educate them , I myself have mine 3 times and no reply ... just checked and Mr Spellars email himself as MP of Warley is available to all would we not all be better off emailing the source of the ill informed bill ? And educating him !!! 🤔 if the over 20k strong membership filled his inbox up suddenly overnight he might see the light ?

Cheers gents. Certainly buys us a bit more time for lobbying. I wonder if safari club international have much clout in the UK? Certainly basc and so on seem to have been disappointingly quiet on this bill so far. Doubt an email to John Spellar will change his views but certainly local MPs etc may see some sense

What baffles me is the amount of videos of photo tour buses etc getting chased by something with what appears to be a complete disregard for what those encounters do for the animals
I can't imagine bus loads of flashing cameras are a particularly positive experience and imagine they leave litter and other bits that need not be there

SCI and DSI etc won't get involved in the UK as they have so few subscribers here I assume.

When I asked BASC last year they said the Deer Department were spearheading it. I spoke to Martin Edwards, Head of Deer who said they were waiting for more information.
BASC sent an email newsletter out to all members last week and I can't understand why they did not urge members to write to their MP as they do so often in other similar circumstances.

One study in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve in the Greater Kruger showed that 24,000 photographic visitors contributed 17% of the reserves income whereas just 46 hunters produced 61% of their income, think of the difference in the footprint of those two.

BASC are useless, employ utterly useless human beings, and take your money for no appreciable service.

Have you got a source link to the study please?

I will send to my MP.

It is an extremely destructive piece of legislation , and an extremely arrogant one . It never ceases to amaze me how short sighted these groups are . The only reason most of these species still exist is because they have value to the African people . Once they lose value , they're doomed , we've seen this again and again . It becomes obvious after listening to Ricky Gervais and fellow travellers that it's about how it makes them feel , rather than the welfare of the animals they say they care about . Most Africans don't enjoy the financial reserves that these celebrities enjoy . They live close to the edge and don't have the ability to fund conservation without foreign capitol coming in . As was posted in the Gaurdian piece , letting comedians and celebrities dictate conservation policy is a very bad idea . Hopefully , your MPs will listen to people who actually know what they're talking about , instead of a group of people who's main claim to fame is pretending to be something they're not .

When u write a email to mp's is it possible/normal to link video clips?
Would it be easy for them to view?

And following on from that does anyone have a link to the clip with the africain PH? and he's explaining hunting with the jars of different coloured sweets.
Pretty sure i seen it on here years ago and always thought it was a very good clip and be nice and simple for MP esp urban mp which mst will be

It was Jen’s ulrik hogh, above. Try sending a link but highlight what it is in your text otherwise they are unlikely to click a link.
