Police guidelines and the firearms act are not one and the same thing.Q.
Under UK law, placing snap caps in a shotgun for transportation is legal, though not strictly required. Police guidelines require shotguns to be unloaded, disassembled (where possible), concealed, and stored securely out of sight during transit (e.g., in a locked boot). [1, 2]

You are safer if you make a separate journey with the forend - that's Good Practice.WARNING! Don't transport your shotguns with cartridges in the same car! Police will treat this as intent to conduct gangland style drive by shootings! You now have to make 2 trips!
Those rounds wont stay in that belt long
I fully agree and one day when pigs fly they will used the act and not make it up as they go along !Police guidelines and the firearms act are not one and the same thing.
Quite tricky to make a separate trip without your forend!!!You are safer if you make a separate journey with the forend - that's Good Practice.
Hi all,
A heads up! I have just been told NOT to LOAD SNAP CAPS IN ANY' FIREARM THAT IS BEING TRANSPORTED. ( INCLUDES SHOT GUNS) The police would now treat it as a loaded firearm. I was told they did not think to pass on this information?
They won’t be, as they will be wearing safety gogglesbless them, they are obviously in fear of getting hurt when the snap caps unexpectedly eject from the shot gun.
Not that I use them, they serve no useful function.
Never heard that one before, but I think that the police are confusing attended with unattended shotgunsI always thought it was recommended, for additional security, to put snapcaps in a shotgun, pull the triggers, and then remove the fore end. It's then impossible to re-cock the firing pins without refitting the fore end.
Sean Lock, brilliantIs it as much fun as a "carrot in a box" ? If you know, you know![]()

But different forces in the UK often don't all say the same about many thingsQ.
