It's probably been done to death but if I use a cheap plastic tarp will it aid dragging a fallow across a field or would a heavy plastic sheet be better?
I need something to roll or fold up and place in my game bag.

I used a very heavy pvc tarp, the challenge is keeping the deer on the tarp even when bound on with parrot chord, i then attached a drag harness to the deer

Get a Sika sized (roe sack) sack, top and tail your deer then come back, or just shoot the small ones.
I prefer to bleed & clean go back to the truck lock the rifle away as dragging with a rifle and sticks also if it is a buck then the head will flop around and eventually dig in the ground.
Wet sticky ground this time of year the plastic will soon bind with something.
A friend uses a drag mat which rolls up but he does shoot a lot of Fallow

I like my cart

If you truly want a roll up sled the only thing Iv seen close to being suitable are the emergency mountain rescue sleds because there made of hard durable plastic with all the eyelets. Not cheap though.

Just buy a jet sled and leave in the car honestly Iv found mine life changing when dragging reds.
