What should I get in the US

Off to the US on Friday for a week and will be going to a bass pro shop.
Just wondered if there is anything I should be looking to pick up in the US that is difficult to get here or much cheaper there? Obviously needs to be none licensed as flying it back to uk. I have ordered a marsupial gear bino back to be delivered in the states. Just wondered if there was anything that sprung to mind that I should look out for.

Cheers

Try military surplus stores, bargains to be had.enjoy.

A decent bore guide. In fact, before you leave to come home, throw away all of your clothes and fill your suitcase with bore guides, you’ll pay for your holiday.

I lived in the US for a year and was frequently in the local Bass Pro. A couple of observations:

1. Shooting/hunting in the US is an Everyman sport and generally ‘stuff’ is cheaper.

2. A lot of their stuff is cheap Chinese cr@p that really isn’t up to much.

3. US optics are in the main not up to European standards - with the exception of Vortex.

4. Clothing is almost all Hunter camo.

5. Slings/cleaning kits and other ancillary items are great value compared with the UK.

6. Try and stick to known brands like Vortex or Quake Claw etc - see point 2.

Enjoy your trip and don’t be tempted to bring back anything ‘controlled’ the US authorities will have you in a supermax whilst it all gets sorted out quicker than you can blink.

With the British pound doing so poorly against the dollar I reckon the bargain people often talk about in old days are not as evident.

I spent a long time (11 weeks) touring America last year.

It’s is however a great place to visit, we found people friendly and well mannered pretty much everywhere we went, it was a real joy :)

Projectiles might be cheaper by a margin, but generally decent availability Tikka is increasingly popular so you can get ancilliaries sometimes.

Camping gear is def cheaper.

Have a look around at other outdoor stores as well, heck even their Walmarts have some gear

If you know where your going and staying, could always order items to be delivered to that hotel

But the walking around the bass-to or cabalas stores is something, lots of critters hanging on the walls, check out their clearance section
