Which 6mm?

I have a fast twist .243 and have had great results with both roe and fox. I find it very unfussy with bullets and being able to go with heavier bullets means less meat damage especially on muntjac

What are the benefits of the 6xc compared to the 6CM?
Less powder, less barrel wear?
The differences are really marginal between the 243, 6cm and 6xc from what I can see, slightly less powder in the 6xc for the same or higher velocity maybe. My choice was based on wanting a fast twist 6mm barrel for a Blaser R8, so that partly made the choice for me, I knew all 3 fed reliably (I’m not suggesting that the others don’t btw) and that they were all accurate. I did like the reputation the 6xc has built and the David Tubbs backstory I suppose, but if I had opened the options out to re barrelling I would have happily looked at a 6cm or a fast twist 243.

Forget all the fast twist Ackley Improved bullsite. Any .243 will kill a Roe at any range you are competent to shoot.
Fox? See above

I really like my 6XC, it replaced a .243, and has shot all UK deer species.
You have to reload for it, but it's simple to load for.

I'll throw 6x47lap into the pot, mainly because I'm just waiting on mine back from proof and no one else has mentioned it.
Also I belive that's what the great Eric Cortina used for his incredible 1000yd 1.3" 5 shot group which will take some beating!

Wish I had gone with 6-6.5X47 instead of 6mm creedmoor.

I like the smaller cartridge or even 6XC

However I am happy with my 6mm creedbro for now.

.243 is too boring.

Twist, twist, twist, twist, twist. Because if non-lead comes in and, for some parts of the UK the 100 grain weight remains the law then many rifles will not be able to stabilise non-lead 100 grain bullets.

7 twist will stabilise easily non lead

Works admirably in my own XC with 115 DTacs

There wouldn’t be an issue with 100 g non lead with this twist

The other option of course is get a gain twist starting at 10 finishing at 6-6.5 but as there are not any commercially availble non lead bullets over 100 g other than those made by small scale prototypes that’s pretty semantic
