I've owned 243, 243 AI and then 6XC. The 6XC was my favourite, but it was my first full custom rifle. I'm not shooting 6mm these days, but if I was, 6mm Creedmoor would be my choice in a fast twist.I have been shooting a 6mm Creedmoor for the last couple of seasons and have found it to be great!
Pros are:
• Good factory brass, no fire forming
• Straight wall case, far less stretch than 243 and easier to size
• SRP brass, seems hold up to pressure and last longer than LRP
• Factory rifles with fast twist readily available
Worth mentioning that factory ammo supply isn’t great, best to load for this one!
103gr ELD-X is my preferred bullet, 3200+ fps easily achieved with N160 and a 26” barrel.
As said I've chosen 6XC.
I've been offered a reamer for chambering, dies for reloading, and theres plentiful stock of good factory ammo, plus I was also offered the brass from the factory ammo.
It's a no brainer for me with those circumstances.
Just need to find a Tikka T3/T3x action, and I'll start getting things together for a build.
Also small primer brass is available that is more tolerant of pressure. The XC is an excellent cartridge in my opinion. What are the benefits of the 6xc compared to the 6CM?
Less powder, less barrel wear?
Not sure yet mate. Not gotten that far, as I'll need to put in a variation and start getting a few things together. Mainly the action.Who is building it?

With you all the way KThis fixation with 6mm is very sad. Far more interesting and exciting to live a little and in imperial!

What’s the availability of 6XC reloading dies now days as this was a calibre I was really interested in but when I researched it about 18 months ago it was really difficult to find any reloading dies and the US retails would not send them over unless I did it via a shipping agent. Hopefully the situation has improved.
I will be swapping my 6BR and 6xc barrel off a T3.As said I've chosen 6XC.

Yes thats the general plan mate. I'll see what comes up.I will be swapping my 6BR and 6xc barrel off a T3.
Buy a clapped out old 243 or 22/250 that doesnt shoot with factory loads. My 6BR started as a 22/250 for £200!
As above, a real struggle to get to 1700 ft-lb6x45 or 6mm TCU.
Based on 223 or 223AI.
Approx 200fps more then 223 with equal weight bullet.
