Wool

been out in it today and its windy, only a t shirt and a thin fleece and its warm no wind is getting through, so result, very happy and I removed the pocket, i will do a proper internal welt pocket so it doesn't detract from the look, very pleased now

Very interesting thread here. Would be keen to know what you think of it. I’m looking for something warmer now!!
Had it now for a short while and really like it.
The body is double layered blanket and arms and hood single, there is also a large pocket on the front for both hands but also 2 smaller pockets within to put your phone/keys/ammo etc.
The hood is a typical bushcraft type and is large but can be pulled tighter with draw strings.
My normal gortex jacket (10+ years old) doesnt breath so found the wool smock different in that you can feel the breeze passing through whereas my gortex jacket you would just sweat.
Had the measurements made to my specs so fits like a glove.
Will get some pics later.

As plonker has pointed out, this is well covered in another thread, a fool and his money are soon parted..... something looks too good to be true it normally is. The real deal are an aspiration, the cheap Chinese copies are an abomination

Sorry, that part wasn’t meant as a personal dig. As to the “around the camp fire” bit goes, be careful, from the reviews I’ve seen of other unfortunate victims of the scams, they are highly flammable poly synthetic crap, no trace of wool to be found!

I have worn mine underneath my shell jacket and it added warmth and a high neck to keep the wind out, for 25 quid its a decent extra layer and would do me fine come the spring as a lightweight top with hood and large front pocket👍

I bought the above, (the camouflage version), a few years ago in a sale they had. It’s the best jacket I’ve had for cold weather stalking. Well designed and well made. Extremely warm and comfy. I’m not a fan of camo in general but I really like the camo pattern on this jacket. It is subtle enough to wear out and about and blends in very well with the English countryside. And like all wool it’s very quiet. It’s not great in heavy rain as it does take a while to dry properly if it gets soaking wet.

I also like the bison bushcraft shirts. I practically live in mine, all year!

How did you find sizing out of interest?

How did you find sizing out of interest?
I got the small/regular which is perfect for me. It is quite a ‘big’ jacket but a winter coat needs to be big enough to wear other layers, jumper etc underneath. Some of the reviews say the sizing is big, so bear that in mind. Their customer service is very good by all accounts, so if you are interested but unsure after measuring yourself and checking their sizing guide then just email them and ask their advice.

Edited to add that having just looked at the reviews again, it seems some people recommend ordering one size down. And unless you are very tall get a regular, rather than tall option in whatever size you choose...

Isn’t wool tendency to shrink ?
what’s the aftercare / washing regime with the Bison shirts.......very nice and a hankering to go more natural fibres for a while
