Have you had the TLR through your .30-06? If so how have you found the TLR compare to the 145gr hp?

yes but only to test some grouping not on animals yet, my dealer is back to taking lead at the moment so I’m using what I have up first

I'm using the hollow point in my 6.5 for all my culling and I'm very happy. Unlike most of the non toxic I've tried that seemed to be very poor.

Yes I use the 145 grain ones in my 308 and they work a treat on reds

Using them in .30-06 with N160 for shooting roe. They are certainty lethal, haven’t had anything run beyond 15m or at all if pinned in the shoulder.
The 6mm 80.5 work great too.

Looking for some non lead loads for my 30-06 with n160, what weight bullet are you using and how many grains of n160?(obviously will be different in my rifle!)

Been using the 80.5 for a while in the .243 with brilliant results, just bought a box of 126.5 for the 3006, have tried quite a few non toxic bullets but these seems to have the edge on the rest for me

Having been in conversation with Richard about load development using 145gr Yew Tree bullets in my 30-06 for a while and eventually getting my backside in gear to get a load sorted.
It was time to put them to use, recently got a phone call from a land owner asking if I could reduce the fallow he had on his ground. We got driven around the ground and land maps given. All fields in stubble so a day booked off work.
Managed to stalk into a 2 bucks, both head shot at around 20y and 40yards. Then a small parcel came out of a belt of woodland. Headed my way, picked out a pricket. 130y broadside.
I could see the strike, they hit with a slightly different sound, he turned and I could see an impressive blood trail . He made it 20y and was over. Considering they were aware of something he didn't go far.
Pass through on the deer taking his heart out. Impressive performance!!!!!

I am surprised. Certainly not the case in either my 6.5x55 (112grHP) or my friends 6.5prc (114TLR). Out to 300yds they expand as advertised and perform equally as well as lead bullets on Roe and Muntjac.

Tbh so am I I used them in a friends gun and presumed they were lead never changed the point of aim the shot damage was just like lead it converted me when he said they were yewtree

understand every rifle chamber etc but a good firm starting point will help save £ and range bookings.

As small point in that the OAL from another rifle is irrelevant to your rifle. You need to measure the overall length of a round with the bullet seated on the lands in your rifle and test charge weights with bullet seated 50 thou off initially. There is a reloading tips page on my website which details the methodology I use. N150 would be the most consistent performer in the 6.5 creedmoor with either of my 6.5mm bullets. By all means pm me if you require any charge weight data.

I have done Rich but loading 5 in each 50th -90 off 25 bullets plus first settling on a charge weight is adding up to a box of pills .
You have given me a ball park with R16 already thanks but I'd like to narrow it down before killing a bunch of sand lol.
On that Rich is there a seller in Essex who stocks your bullets ? pm if you wish as I am hearing better and better things so I intend to use them and a seller who has stock around here would be very nice just to pop in and grab more when needed.

Essex shooting supplies stock my bullets.
Personally I only shoot 3 shot groups. The reason being I want the groups either side of best group either charge weight wise or seating wise to be ‘sensible’ so in effect shooting a 9 shot group if you see what I mean.

Yes fully understand I do the same. I have loaded 6 in each combo three to shoot and 3 at adjust seating if needed in each load just to save time driving from Essex to Cambridge .
and one set at Barns data for there 120 ttsx 2.720 @45.5 -R16 this will be used as my start up load and be my max ,never know it may just turn out to be bob on lol.

Not wishing to hijack a thread, but since it relates to "Yew Tree Bullets", I just wanted to add to the long list of recommendations for Richard and his bullets.

My 7mm TLRs just arrived quickly and they look great. Richard was also extremely quick to help with my reloading questions (for a fairly unusual cartridge and powder combo)... and all on a Sunday afternoon!

Max published by barnes for their 120 and RL16 is 42.7 grains. I gave you max for my bullets as 43.
45.5 grains RL16 will be way too much.

Yes sorry starting at 40.0 . 41. 42 42.5 is my max seems a steep climb but I am hoping that around 42 I will find a node or a flat spot for little less fps as I don't like chasing the speed it's a tight group that I am after. even if its around 27500/28000 I will be happy

I think you’ll get something between 2,850-2,920fps (provided your barrel isn’t über short) That’s where most have settled. As you say most likely in the 42 grain area.
