Deerstalking Fair, 23rd & 24th March, 2019, Border Union Showground, Kelso, Scottish Borders

Was there today. Good day out with plenty to see. A really interesting seminar of seminars that are we;; worth attending. Unfortunately it didn't look that busy and I really hope numbers are sufficient to make sure this continues into the future.

I had every intention of visiting this year but I must have missed a few too many Church Parades during my military career because I was struck down with a heart attack just before Christmas and am now awaiting treatment for Bowel Cancer.
Somebody is really getting their own back now I reckon ;)
However I wish you all well and hope it turns out as good a show, or better, than the previous ones.

hope things go well for you

Ye-ha got them. In fact i got everything I was after. (except a Hawke scope my mate was after). I went there with a bucket full of loot and came home with most of it. I thought there wasn't as many stalls as last year, nor as many punters. But on saying that it was still worth the 430 mile round trip. Even if it was just to see the butcher guy show me a new way to remove a roe head, so impressive.
Be back next year deffo.
Alan

Me & a good mate went yesterday but I was manly there to pick up a sausage stuffer as I was on holiday with the family. Weschenfelder sorted me straight out again.

I have to ask,,,was the doomsday preppers 'bug out' tower with the elevator a built in event feature or something a vendor put up for sale/advertising?

The long trip up and back from Hampshire was well worth the drive.
Well done Brain on an excellent show, I stocked up on some sausage making products, bone saw and some bullet heads, plenty of other stands with lots of stalking and deer related products to see and purchase.
also looked at a new NV/thermal spotter coming onto the market, 5 setting which enable you to switch from thermal to NV at a push of a button, had an NV with thermal hot spot overlay, good product making identification much easier, as good as the pulsar XQ38 and no freezing, first impressions with out a proper look, very good, and price at about 2400
there was some very interesting talks and demos, found the talk that Ed from Edinburgh rifles did on none lead bullets particularly interesting, his knowledge on this subject was extensive and interesting to see some of the new bullets coming onto the market.

UKDTR where very proud to be working with SNH for the first time with practical demonstrations on following up with a dog along with a power point presentation and talk all part of the reviewed best practice on follow up, It had been a long time since we all met along with other tracking organisations in Edinburgh some 14 months ago to help and promote best practice on following up with a dog.
manning the stand was a great experience for me and so nice to meet so many Scottish stalkers and put a face to a name, also met stalkers and dog people from Ireland and Northern Ireland along with many English boys and girls, there was great interest in our hounds and dogs and how we used them, Deklan's monster HS Kong stole the show as everybody loved him.

look forward to next year and well done to all that made the show such a fantastic experience for UKDTR.
