BASC to remove "Legal Expenses Cover" wef 31 July 2020

I have tried to explain to people why BASC is unfit to represent shooting people - over a long period of time. I have tried to become a part of it to change it from within but they don't like change (maybe its just me). The personal examples, like that above, show just how damaging some members lack of judgement or willingness to judge can be to the future of shooting by simply allowing the status quo to remain and fuel the arrogant determination to refuse to change, over our dying sport.

I dont believe the BASC membership figures and if they are actually true, then shooting will die and BASC and its members and supporters will have contributed significantly to that demise.

Really? I didn't pay any extra above the standard membership fee to have insurance cover - are you saying I am not covered?

You can buy membership with, or without the shooting insurance, for example a "supporter". The difference, between the options, represent insurance cover.

So you, as I, both took the "full membership", £82.00, as against £37.00 if you just want to be a supporter.

So in theory, you paid an additional £45.00 for the insurance cover !

I only joined for the insurance....:lol:

I have bought two pickups through their discount scheme though so feel I have got my money's worth from the extra £37 pa ;)

Just emailed basc telling david ilsey i wouldnt be renewing because of there disgracefull behaviour over the lead issue and the legal cover.
i just got a generic reply with my name as header telling me basc was run by its membership!
I emailed him back and told him that the clue was in the comment that they made these decisions without consultation.
We need to let these people know why we are not rejoining or it will never change!

I couldnt.

L200, Mitsubishi garage said they couldn't get anywhere near the basc quote I showed them.
You need to shop around, time of year and month can make a lot of difference to the amount of discount you are offered. If the garage need a couple of sales that month to reach their targets which effect the discount they get from the manufacturer then they will give you a greater discount to get the sale. My isuzu was a lot cheaper straight from the dealer after haggling than it was with the basc discount. I would assume basc get a cut from each sale as well which has to be factored into the price.

If you are a BASC member and have any queries or feedback about this please email me at conor.ogorman@basc.org.uk with your membership number and I will ensure that someone gets back to you.

You are fond of using this site to promote BASC when it suits you.

Not so eager to discuss difficult issues in the open on this site. You have privately messaged me, requesting to talk over my reasoning for leaving BASC.

No.

You had no desire for consultation prior to BASC announcements.

It is no longer a members’ organisation and although I dont give a damn about spending £4k on MPs shooting days, I wont pay to be a part of an organisation that wants its members money and wont consult or make decisions without the backing of the majority of the membership.

I advise all BASC members to think about what the benefits really are. Pay for separate insurance-you dont need to keep these people in a job.

I respect and appreciate your decision to resign from BASC. Whilst I understand and relate to your anger, may I say that targeting me personally on this open public forum, as you have done, is perhaps uncalled for, especially after my contact with you?
