West Mercia did a new calibre application within a week and a one for one variation in about 3 days from application. They have always been pretty good but coronavirus seems to have speeded things up some.
I have both, FAC 22 air rifle running at present at 28 ft ideal for rabbits etc in areas where my 17HMR would be too much gun, and too noisy. I have a use for them both in different situations, wouldn't want to not have either. deerwarden .Avon and Somerset, mines been with them 2 months now, hope it comes back soon.
Actually having second thoughts about the 17hmr, wish I had put FAC air rifle.
so I wasted two hours and £6.70 sending it back with a letter.I spoke to D&C last week and was told that they are now starting to process variations in the order in which they were received, but there is probably quite a backlog.Devon/Cornwall and Dorset aren't and turnaround on renewals has gone to 60 days. The cost of amalgamation into too big a force with a large rural area and more cert holders than they can manage methinks (and they're normally one of the better ones).
I was going to put in for a one on/one off variation but in the end opted to just keep things as they are for now until things get back to normal. Glad I did now.
Surrey /Sussex said the same, I got mine back in a week.
I think they now only answer the phone after 2pm but I maybe wrong, its a crying shame as they used to be fantasticWiltshire? I keep getting the answer machine.
But they are insisting on doctor's letter for grant/renewal.Which forces are currently doing Variations?
Dyfed-Powys Police are not and are using Coronavirus as the reason.
