Hi. What are people thoughts on the chances to fly to South Africa from the U.K. this summer ? I have a rolled over trip from last May to this May, personally I do not think we get there, but friends I am travelling with are a lot more optimistic then I am. Hopefully I will be proven wrong on this one as can’t wait to get back out there even if I did get tick bite fever last time I was out there

I would say slim. I should have been in Namibia last June. I'm hoping that I will eventually get to use my paid for, postponed flights. Hoping for 2022 now.

Remember that when African officials come across Westerners bending the rules, particularly around animal parts, dollar signs start appearing in their eyes. They also don't distinguish between run-of-the-mill naughtiness and ivory-smugglers. Don't make yourself vulnerable.

My business partner spent three days in a Mozambican jail simply because one of our clients (unbeknownst to us) had put a warthog tusk he'd found into his suitcase to take home to his daughter.

Yeah, the officials out there are be very hit or miss, 2919 we got checked in joberg while waiting for our connecting flight east London. Basically told it would be a long wait to get our guns checked in and sometimes Ammo boxes get left behind , I paid the 3 inspectors 50 rand each , they let the 6 of us through immediately, did not open the gun boxes and all guns and Ammo boxes arrived in east London. I still remember one of them saying to me, “ they are the right guns in there now . Aren’t they . So much for airline security.

FYI I had £4500 of flights for 4 of us to Moz in Oct last year. I claimed a s75 refund (look it up) and got the lot back on my credit card. Took a while and a hard line but got there. Do not accept deferred tickets. Get the cash

Yeah, we are flying with BA , have taken Covid insurance out, I would want the cash back as I could pay towards getting my skins back , from 2019. They were not ready when the heads were ready and got left behind.
