Freyr and Devik

Mmm - i am also considering a F&D mod - they seem to be nice small and light. Aren’t they also used by Blaser?

Seems like I need to do some more research given reported failures.

I will say, I have two a-tec maxim mode (all aluminium) and they have been excellent...one has had around 1000 rounds through it and yes, it’s flow cut to hell but it still does a good job.

The Sauer and Blaser mods are made by F&D I believe...I don’t think it’s a massive issue, there are still some variables such as loads fired through them and storage etc.

I genuinely love the mod, it’s brilliant. Yes, I’m disappointed to discover what I thought was all titanium isnt, as to me that was the justification for the price tag, and having known with all these things there are trade offs with aluminium mods, that but saddens me. But, I cannot fault the service ive received today from Cluny, and also the very quick responses I’d had from Freyr himself at the company, you do literally get straight through to the boss when you email them.
but for sound moderation, weight, balance aesthetics etc, it is great. I wouldn’t worry about buying one, I doubt you’d be disappointed

I would also agree with the above.
And the baffles where replaced straight away.
I’m even considering putting one on my .223 (if they do them now) and any future rifles.

Absolutely, I have heard they are good, will be interesting to see it after 200 rounds and compare to the pics of the DPT...I will say I was disappointed when I couldn’t get an F&D (long story 🙄) but when I got the DPT and the titanium module it’s quite a nice tidy package and I am happy with it so far. I think price wise they are around the same.

What happened to the Freyr & Devik thread?. Was reading page 2, then went to page 3 only to be told ; 'oops - we ran in to a problem'.
Has it been pulled for some reason?.

Gone for some reason. Having acquired one last week, I found it genuinely interesting! Maybe someone pressed report rather than reply.

I had asked admin to remove one of the posts I made but it seems the whole lot went, but to be fair having had my issue resolved it was heading down an unnecessary path I think.
On the whole both they and their U.K. distributors have acted in an exemplary way to resolve the issue I raised in the other thread, so I have no further axe to grind.
I would hate for them to get negative press for what is fundamentally a great product.

I've bought three and am about to order another two. Now worried if someone is pulling a thread just because a 'problem' has been highlighted.

I read it with interest as I still have an F&D 269 waiting for me in Somerset on anew rifle. I was not aware that it had Aluminium which could corrode. I don't find maintenance that exciting, which is why I spent the money.
How was the matter resolved though deerstalker.308? Was it confirmed as a manufacturing flaw and you got a new unit?

The take away for me from the deleted thread is I won’t be buying one. I was considering one but not any longer.

I personally have an F280 and think it is a great moderator but I’m extremely concerned that they have now developed a fault which resulted in a catastrophic failure. Regardless of whether the distributer has acted in an exemplary fashion I think these faults need to be discussed with the wider community.

I think you’re reading too much into it. I asked them to delete a post, not the thread, but I suspect admin may have misunderstood my request. It was nothing sinister.
I will send them a on now and find out if it will put your mind at rest?
I am a very happy customer with regard to this product, and am being provided with a new baffle stack when they receive their next shipment. I believe them when they say such occurrences are rare, and also that a lot of the fault attributed to the unit itself can be levelled at poor maintenance regimes on the owners part more often than not.
you honestly don’t hear many negative reviews of them, I’ve had various mods over the years and although there are compromises with all of them, be that weight/corrosion/size/sound attenuation these have been the best I’ve had. Can’t say fairer than that really.

I think it's a shame it has been deleted, it had good info in it and what looked like a positive outcome as well
