Schmidt and bender or night force scope?

Hi guys, I am planning to buy a new scope to replace my schmidt and bender klassik 8x56 scope. I was looking online at a schmidt and bender klassik 3-12x 50 LM L7 reticle for £925, but my friend who has same schmidt and bender 8x56 scope recently got a night force shv 3-12x 56 scope for £600 that he loves and thinks is way better than his schmidt and bender.
I was wondering if anyone has any advice, I have not seen the scopes in person because of covid.
My budget i was looking at was about £1000

I would stick with the S&B tbh.
Nightforce SHV is not a top variant, it's second focal plane and has capped 1/4 MOA adjustments. The S&B will be the better option.

Are you guys open on Monday? Or do you have easter weekend off? I know the shop is shut, I would like to see what the scope is like before I would think about a purchase.

I noticed lastnight on here that you had the schmidt and bender stratos 2.5-13x56 FD7 for sale for £999.99 just last month you sold last one, it was that price from start December to march. Seeing as it was that price and now £295 more (with 10% off would be £165 more) i am not sure i would purchase this at the price.

For what it’s worth, I have used S&B in the past but now have two NF scopes: a NX8 1-8x24 I imported and an ageing NXS 3-15x56 I bought second hand. They are both very different scopes, bought with different uses in mind but I really rate them both. To my eyes the glass is fantastic and they both feel ‘solid’, to the point that I’m not scared of using them. I wouldn’t dismiss either NF or S&B until you’ve looked through both and made a comparison yourself.

In my experience, Nightforce make good solid scopes with good turrets but the glass is not as good as S and B by some margin.

I have just bought a S&B Stratos 2.5-13x56 a couple of months back from R. Macleod & Son and really like it. I have a 'keeper friend who uses S&B scopes for his deer rifles but bought a Nightforce for the fine reticle on his 22.250 for long range crow shooting. He says it's not a patch on the S&B and when he saw the fine reticle on the Stratos (with a good IR to back it up) he's thinking about going over to one of them too.

Flash dot on a S&B is something really good. I have the 3-12x50 Zenith FD7 since many moons and very very pleased with it.

I love mine (bought from Macleod's) too, wouldn't swap it for any other scope in the world.

I still have to see the first non-European scope wich is as good as the European ones in low light. If your friend has them, just test them in dawn and dusk.
Most European scopes also have better reticles ( n°4 ) . Wich are better visible at low light. Certainly if your eyes get older. If you buy a decent scope, it's for 20-30 years, so your eyes get older at a moment ( if you are lucky) .
