Schultz and larsen 25-06 thoughts

Hi All,

I am looking at getting a 25-06, i have been doing my research and keep comping back to the Schultz and Larsen. Just wanted to get peoples thoughts and experiences. Previously shot a Remington 25-06 but the S&L looks a great gun.

The good bits i can see:
Cut Barrel
Easy to change barrel
I like the scope mount idea for summer / winter shooting.
Looks to be a reliable gun from my research.

I have the Victory in 6.5x55 - the engineering and accuracy are first class. No complaints whatsoever. Speak to Steve Beaty at Ivythorn Sporting.

Great rifles, very accurate and beautifully made. I found mine came up a bit short in the stock so worth checking they fit you, same as any rifle really. Never used the winter/summer mounting but may be useful, easy to change barrels but I always checked zero after, its not the same barrel change and return to zero as say on a blaser (scope is attached to the action not the barrel and the action has to be removed in order to change barrels on most models bar the traveller? iirc) but thats not an issue unless you really want it. None of that is a criticism btw, just my own experience.
As above, give Steve Beatty a call and go try one, you’ll soon know if its the right rifle for you.

I have seen Ivybridge and Alan Rohne are the premier dealers for them. Typically i am smack in the middle between them, i assume they are equally great dealers.

Steve Beatty is an incredibly helpful chap with a very good showroom and facilities incl a range on site which is very helpful, was always a great experience visiting. All my dealings with Alan Rhône have been phone or email but top class.

As a Remington 25-06 shooter I think you’ll be happy with the chambering anyway! 100gr TTSX do the business.

Another recommendation for both S&L and Steve Beatty. For what it’s worth, he won’t try to ‘sell’ you anything but he will encourage you to shoulder and handle just about every rifle he has in his gunroom until you’re happy.

They're known for making quality well crafted and accurate rifles here in Denmark, with a slick operating bolt and good triggers too.

The Only thing I'd say potentially negatively are they They Arnt the smallest or lightest rifles around, as i remember handling. They're
largely wood and steel after all. So i do suggest handling one first to see if you like how it shoulders, weighs etc.

+ 1 vote for Steve Beaty. I bought my S&L synthetic stock 243 from him. He could not have been more helpful. And The gun has exceeded my expectations. It’s a great bit of kit. I’m a big fan of way the scope mounts lock into place. Although I don’t adjust for winter/summer, I have removed the scope a couple of times and when I have put it back it has required no adjustment to return to zero.

My brother-in-law had a Remmington in .25-06 he found the 115/120 gr Nosler partitions very effective on Reds.
Also 120 gr Speer Grand-slam was even better, all fast and flat enough.
But do get a 24''+ barrel.

Quality, very well made rifles. Only negative thing that I can think of that composite stock might have been made out of a better material with less plastic feel. If you go with wooden stock, no need to worry about it.

I have been shooting nosler 115gr BT’s through a Remington and found them awsome.
Hoping they would be just as good through a S&L. Would definitely get a 24-26” barrel.

I actually found all the details on guntrader, it’s what got me looking in to the S&L rifles. Just seems odd to me to be in a sales based sector and not have a website. Some much relies on it these days.
