More revokes

If the police are clearing up past errors of "fit to be entrusted" judgement then fair enough.
I think thats the case, many forces are now reviewing old cases where people have had there guns taken away and got them back!
The Plymouth review has had a lot to do with this and some constabularies are now looking at old cases, my county being one of them.

Because of the applicant or because of the doctor, only reason I bring it up is, if they did all the paperwork with the time frame then they shouldn't have to pay for storage
Late getting his medical records sorted.
He has a few rifles for his farm the usual .22.17 243 .444 fac air gun A few Good shotguns some family heir looms a rook rifle and some muzzle loaders that he shoots they would be fac exempt if he didn’t want to use them . He is also a gun club member
As a note his gun cabinet/safe can hold 100 Guns and empty weighs 3/4 of a ton .
He has held his fac 37 years so far

Very true. I have met one or two over the past few years that I refuse to take out or deal with, after seeing how they handle themselves and approach firearm ownership. One cannot blame the police for being cautious at times, its a fine line to tread at times.
However I do feel that the whole system needs a thorough review. Especially as I cannot fathom why any firearms owner is not required to have public liability insurance added to an application.

I asked that a while back Malc the response was that “we are the police and not interested in insurance,RA-MS etc, in the event you have an incident you will be investigated and arrested as normal irrespective of any paperwork including land clearance that you may hold, we are are upholders of the law “

Some tough stories here but all is not dark.
I wondered how my renewal would go, as in Kent we have new FEO's, but I've had my co-term certs renewed with no problems.
Went through what they held by way of paperwork, tidied/updated a couple of permissions and 2 days later new certs arrived.
Thumbs up to Kent FLD

Drs report was late
How late? How early before renewal did he apply? As the my are valid for months.

I have a relatively high holding, not a mile off your mate’s, I got the doctor’s report 5 months before renewal date and my application in 4 months early to make sure I would avoid storage costs. I also let the old bill know what their storage costs would be if they didn’t get my ticket back out to me on time.

Think it was just under the 8 weeks

I'll have to check my FAC but I'm sure for many years my target shooting condition included words to the effect of "to be used on ranges where adequate [3rd part liability] insurance is in place" so sounds like another lack of consistency....

That is a standard condition and should be on all FACs issues for target shooting (as opposed to practice and zeroing).

Are you Zanes from airgunBbs by any chance?

I stand to be corrected, but we must be one of the only European countries where it is not a requirement. Frankly having seen two people who own firearms over the past 4 or 5 years and what they would shoot without any backstop, its a wonder there are not more accidents in the UK.
One I know of has just been thrown off one shoot because of dangerous shooting.
