BASC survey - voluntary transition away from lead shot for live quarry shooting

involuntary or forced would be a better description.

Indeed, imposed upon the membership without consultation?
That's not true. There has been almost 4 years of consultation with members of BASC and by the other organisations with their members and that has included the numerous threads on this forum seeking feedback that 'DavidBASC' (now retired from BASC) and myself have interacted with.

You’re denying the ‘Transition’ was launched before consulting the membership?

Sorry Conor but the BASC response to the original HSE consultation came straight out of the blue as far as I am concerned. I don't recall the response being put before the membership for prior approval either.

At that time I was a member of BASC and didn't see anything about it. It wasn't voluntary until after they said it was... That's why I'm no longer a member

Are you a member of any of the nine organisations encouraging a voluntary move away from lead shot for live quarry shooting? If so, which organisation are you a member of?
Some of us were members of BASC.
But if you don't consult your members BEFORE a major decision like this voluntary ban on lead.
Then what do you expect.
For me it has shown just how out of touch with your members BASC is.

Got 3/4s through it and it started crashing which was fine as TBH im sick of answering the same stupid questions .
All of the questionnaire's all amount to asking the same questions , you have had our answers time and time again .

Completed the survey. Seems to me the cart is before the horse. Surely we should we have had the survey before BASC and the others jumped the gun and forced it all upon us ? I wonder if Rishi will kick the tin can down the alley for the shooting community like he did for electric cars ?

Again, it's not an opinion survey. It's part of an ongoing attitudes and behaviour tracking programme over a number of years. Without data you can't say wether or not self-regulation works so can't argue against compulsion.

Can I just say that @Conor O'Gorman has skin like a stegosaurus? I mean he doesn't have to post on here and deal with the predictable reaction from some of the more awkward participants every single time. He could just sit at his desk and tick the boxes rather than stick his neck out.

Just before the first Covid lockdown I went on one of my periodic bouts of arguing for the promotion of fieldsports rather than their defence and emailed Conor. And if I remember correctly, he stopped at the side of a road on the way back from a BASC event to call me back and discuss for 45 minutes. Based on that I'd say he's a good guy trying to work in our interests. Try and help rather than roll back the tide.

Happy new year everyone. Especially @Conor O'Gorman .

Thanks @Pine Marten for the kind words and good wishes. Happy new year to you also and whilst there is a lot of defence ahead we will also see plenty of promotion of fieldsports and some proactive pushing back on the legal front also.
