.22WMR ammo in/near kent ?

I've changed barrels back on my CZ to .22WMR and trying to find the most accurate ammo, it does not like the Hornady V max 30gr, and not doing well with some 50gr Federal gameshock i managed to get. I'm trying to source some different types to try to hopefully find one that is acceptable to hunt with, so is anyone aware of RFD in Kent or surrounding areas that might have some different .22WMR to try ? thanks

‘Out of curiosity what grouping you getting with 35g v, in mine .50 inch cluster at 70 yd zero, wouldn’t mind trying heavier round, I haven’t had it long I just zeroed it with the 35g

Hi, the hornady I've used is 30gr not 35gr, the results are erratic ! to the point I sometimes question my shooting ability ! but then as i can group sub MOA 5 round groups with my .223 and .308 with homeloads i tend to thinks its the ammo LOL, with the Hornady i get frequent flyers that really open up the groups, 2 or 3 rounds will often be good then one or two will be 2 -3 inches or more off, I've never bothered to measure the groups but probably the best group I've got at 100 meters is 3 inches or so, but then its the same with the 50gr stuff I've used, cloverleaf for a few rounds than bang the next two are way off. The best groups i get is with the subsonic 45gr Winchester's which will give a 1 inch group at 50 meters. A lot of people suggest .22WMR ammo is not very accurate, I'm beginning to believe it might be correct ! but hoping there is a round my 455 likes and i can get hold off !

One I used when I had mine and could recommend is Federal 30gr Speer hp, this was accurate in my cz 455
Dropped foxes out to 80yds with it, had a close one 20yds dropped like a sack of spuds

It was also very effective on rabbits, grey squirrels.

CCI do a similar round also both are available at most rfds.

The only other I could recommend is Remington 33gr accutip but availability is hit and miss compared to CCI/Federal 30gr.

Thanks yeah Dauntsey guns seems a bit of a .22WMR advocate, i read his page about it on his website, and does have a good selection, bit of a trip for me from the Kent Coast though, john Forsey is an option as much closer, so will have a look at them thanks

Lift the action out of the stok and sit it on two plastic shims around the two fixing points and go shoot a group.
I haven't the time to explain right now but go ahead.

A 22 will shoot in any action

Used a plastic bottle.
I had the same issue with a 452 I had.
When I realised and did what I've suggested it shot pretty much everything into a ragged inch at 100. Try it and report back please.

Tom Highway, Its not my calibre so I can not say with certainty, but when I was in the Kent Gunsmiths Ltd, Dunkirk near Faversham the other day I am pretty sure he had some 22WMR. Hope this helps.

Yeah so the 455 plastic stock model I had in 17 hmr was a good performer despite the barrel rattling on the for end.
Possibly because it was a small bore the barrel in effect was quite heavy.
A 22 wmr barrel may not be so stable if it can vibrate against the stock fore end.
Remember, the magnum rimfires have a lot more going on than a 22.
The 452 I had in wmr had a high spot in the centre of the wood stocks inletting. Took some finding but once i lifted the action off the high spot via fore and aft shims it transformed the rifle.

I have a CZ Varmint in 22WMR, 30Gn VMax is good at 1.23 MOA but 33gn Remington Accutip gives me 0.92 MOA at 104m.
