No call with him,was on a mission and couldn't actually see a doe but cover was unreal thick.Wow look at those coronets, absolutely fantastic.
Did he come into the call or was he just out on a wander?
got same situation here and he wont come over to where i want him to be the crafy sodI've just spent twenty minutes watching a buck actively chase a doe. He's been shadowing her for the last 24 hours or so. They've been in the same area of crop for the last couple of days, so I'm assuming it's been the same pair I've been watching. Guess the rut's definitely on here now then
Apologies brain not working, who’s FB?I am a member of a couple of forums SD FB etc. On FB there are multiple posts from over the country “ruts started” “bucks charging in” “three to the call” etc etc. On SD not so much. Personally I haven’t been out for a week but on the basis of what I’ve seen I may have a speculative call in some areas that are quite dense and difficult to stalk in the traditional sense. I appreciate there are differences between animals responding to the call and the rut being in full flow (pun intended). It would certainly be quite early by my experience
Big old lad.Another fine old beast yesterday morning, and couldn't go a couple of miles without seeing pairs rutting and on one farm there were 4 bucks rutting within 800ish metres of each other. This fella was one of the 4.

For some reason the picture didn’t load before…Called this one out of rushes. Came running in from about 350m.

Picked up a new Buttalo Saturday,be interesting to see what comes in .Clausen Roe deer Pro wasn’t getting much response yesterday and neither was the buttallo as a standard “peep-peep”.
Switching to the distress call with the buttallo did provoke strong responses to bucks that were previously ignoring the softer calls.
Valuable lesson to remember and adapt your calling according to the deer and not just calling in a style that sounds good to you.
The distress calling can sound a bit clunky and amateurish but if the deer are responding you are on the right track.
