Co op Bank blocking payments to firearms dealers.

Complain to the banking ombudsman. This is not THEIR money, it’s yours. Think of the chaos when you won’t be allowed to fill up your car because it’s too polluting.

These bankers need reining in.

FYI I’m with Lloyds and never had a problem.

Them blocking you from filling up your car is coming as soon as they get rid of cash and move is to CBDC’s.

They’ll be able to monitor EVERY transaction at the point of sale so they’ll know exactly what you’re buying and from who.

Bought to much petrol this week? Decline purchase or hit you with extra tax for being a naughty polluter.

Buying a choccy bar? But it says on your medical record that you’re fat. Decline purchase or hit you with extra tax…

Etc etc.

90% of folks just don't see it coming @stubear, keep spreading the word, I hate to imagine that we are all like the Zombies in "The Walking Dead..."

One person's opinion shouldn't allow them to tell you how and where to spend your hard earned cash.
The banks somehow managed to convince the world to hand in their gold and silver in return for paper, a few years later they convince us to trade our paper for numbers on a computer and a piece of plastic that they can control.

Not as far fetched as it may sound

Worse than this, all circle and tether transfers are straight through visible to US so the process has already begun. Of course any on chain transaction can be traced but it’s expensive and not 100% if you are swapping or mixing, US has straight through on these stables.

Withdraw all your funds from Co Op and put it somewhere else. Or withdraw the cash and pay for it that way.
Banks, they are a law unto themselves, boils my p.ss. Wasnt it the CEO of the Co Op involved with some kind of scandal some years back?

Use cash, it beats any bit of plastic.
Absolutely spot on, if cash goes, it WON'T be YOUR money any more, I wish people could understand this simple statement, I'm not having a go at any individual paying by card etc, but next time you make a purchase, use the good old folding stuff.

I am now seeing more small businesses asking for cash only, in and around where I live.

These card machines have a charge applied to them by the banks, and many small businesses can't afford the percentage charged. And as has been mentioned paying by card is not all its cracked up to be. I know its helpful and quick, but when the systems are down, its hopeless. Plus they know where, when, who and how you are spending your money all the time. Its tracing peoples actions and lives all the time.
Cash sales they do not want as its not so easy to trace what your spending and who with. I still use a debit and occasionally a credit card, but prefer to pay in cash where and when I can.
I do not use a phone to pay anything, never will either. God knows what happens if you loose your phone or its stolen?

I had the tap and go and on a debit card when they sent me a new card. Rang up and said take it out please so they did.
Had a card go "out of sight" when paying for fuel as the chap said the machine was not working so walked down the counter to the next machine. Got it back went to the truck gave him cash rang and had the card cancelled and changed.

Never had a credit card and never will have one.

One steel firm I buy Stainless from have stopped accepting debit card payment and don't take cash so I said send me a pro former with you bank payment details.

I have started using cash more and more lately but I still use my debit card and phone, I won't have a credit card.
If I was to have my phone stolen or lost it would be harder for anyone to use than losing my debit card, My phone has security on it whereas my debit card can just be placed over the machine to make payment up to certain amounts

...when the systems are down, its hopeless.

Apropos that.

Trying to get through immigration into Mozambique. They had a new 'online' system.

It crashed. They could not issue entry permits, they could not clear my mate's rife, and we had an unexpected overnight (not to be recommended) in Pemba.

Pemba as they 'sell' it to you in the brochure...

Pemba the reality...

As it was now all 'online', (all be it broken) there was not even the option of paying a 'facilitation fee', to get things done...

Trust me, if a person with autistic traits can break into the computer system in the Pentagon, someone will know how to break into your phone, laptop or whatever you and I use, in a heart beat.

i do use a credit card, but for online type orders as if it goes belly up you can get the credit card company to get your money back, but don’t thing you can with a debit card or bank transfer.

I get that but I'm talking about the average Joe Bloggs, My father in law has had his bank account hacked online and he does not use bank cards credit cards or his phone to make payments outside the house, All I'm saying is if I was to lose my phone or my debit card it would be easier for the average person to use my card than my phone,

With respect, the transaction charge for something like a SumUp card machine is only about 1.5%, which is why they're so popular with small businesses. At that low price, you can't really afford not to have one.
If I'm selling venison at an event such as a food festival, probably around three quarters of my customers want to pay by card. I'd be pretty daft not to have the facility to accept their payments!

Some banks will allow you to switch off "tap and go" on your card. If it worries you just ask.

David.

I don’t use credit cards but I’ve had spurious payments from my debit card blocked and refunded. New card issued!
My debit card was hacked by a Tamil owned petrol station close to home. I’d just had a big redundancy payment and they managed to get £9k out in two minutes in three different countries not on the same continent. The bank refused to accept it wasn’t me so I got a crime number from the police and the money was refunded the next day.
Barclays Bank didn’t like it when I closed my account and took it all as cash to a building society!
