is it not how many lead balls to make 1lb in weight the exception being .410 which is caliber 36cal .What do they know...
It's a guage. A bore is drilled, a 12 gauge barrels internal dimensions is derived at via a gauging method. Personally observed to being in a range of .710"-.729".
It is not 12/1000", 12" or 12mm, it's 12 gauge.
Been there, done that (although I got the .410 gauge wrong)is it not how many lead balls to make 1lb in weight the exception being .410 which is caliber 36cal .
The 36cal is another mess in its own right.is it not how many lead balls to make 1lb in weight the exception being .410 which is caliber 36cal .
A 410 shotgun as a guage is around 67g.
It's bore is .410", nowhere near 36cal.
Yes, but there are, going from memory many possible reasons for it but nothing to do with the actual boreyet in europe they look to refer to the .410 as 36cal.
Wasn't the issue that lead shot shouldn't have been used on waterfowl but a high percentage of shot waterfowl were actually shot with lead?and B
Strong evidence emerged that whilst rifle shooters are all overwhelmingly regarded as respectable law abiding shooters game shooters are totally not to be regarded as law abiding and on information provided by the ogs cannot be trusted to use lead shot intended for target shooting not for live quarry, so we have fxxxxd the sport of clay shooting by banning lead shot for all, except elite athletes..

Ah yes, the dreaded duck drive, I was working on a local estate when they had to put on not one but two extra duck drives because the bunch of Hooray Henrys in the shooting party hadn't made up the bag. Thereafter the estate supplied a thousand cartridges instead and if the bag wasn't achieved when they were used up too bad!that’s the excuse, but that’s like saying because some break speeding laws all vehicles should be banned.
plus to the best of my knowledge wildfowlers have stayed within the law certainly within clubs as immediate thrown out if caught with lead shot. Plus they shoot for their own consumption not to sell to a game dealer.
It’s been the game shooters where they end the day with a duck drive that looks to be the issue.
enforce the law.
At a guess, people are happy how their lead .243 round performs, there is a vast selection of weights and designs which the new offerings might not perform any where near the one they have been buying/loading for a very long time.I can't understand why people are trying to get round this with arguments about this diameter or that diameter. It clearly states in paragraph 35 that .243 is included in the ban on lead ammunition.
So maybe you are giving them grounds to include the 22.250 in the ban. Oh and while you are at it, just say all centre fire ammunition. Then there can't be any confusion.i shoot 68 gr bullets in my 243 or 6mm, i also shoot 68 gr bullets in my 22.250, its legal in one and illegal in the other, it doesnt make sense?a 68 gr bullet is a 68 gr bullet whatever rifle its shot in
Wow Tim. From .243 to smart meters to illegal immigrants in a single post. That's going ro take some beating. At a guess, people are happy how their lead .243 round performs, there is a vast selection of weights and designs which the new offerings might not perform any where near the one they have been buying/loading for a very long time.
Yes copper works but there will be a % of rifles that it won't perform in also only a max weight of 80gns.
Lead is softer copper is not which will affect the life of an older barrel combined with the closing of many a gun shop and lack of choice in stock variant's the shrug from behind the counter with only 2/3 brands on offerwill be the "new norm"
The best non shooting example I can give is Smart Meters branded to be the next best thing since sliced bread,
The companies who have been selling them have rode the "2025" wording for a very long time fitting them in many cases to old people's homes,
Lots of cases they don't work very well, with some never working.
Lots of people have them but at least you have a choice not to have one.
The pushy phone sales people have stopped calling about Smart Meters and now selling discount entrance tickets to nightclubs in Benidorm.
In many cases it is a very small number of people making changes for the what they believe is the right thing to do
The change which in a matter of a few years by a small number of people will and has already changed this country forever is
the migrant crises costing millions of pounds each day and people don't like the change but don't have a choice (no different to the lead change)
The ironic outcome will be the people who pushed the changes on lead will at some point have have their local hotel or one they booked for a break will not be taking bookings as the "no vacancies'" sign will be permanent.
Other examples give people a chance who then can relate to something they don't understand to something they do.Wow Tim. From .243 to smart meters to illegal immigrants in a single post. That's going ro take some beating.
I don't dispute that people are happy with their .243 load. It is just that people keep trying to find a reason that a lead ban doesn't apply when it is clearly stated that it does.
sign lol
