A good idea, or crap?

Well, for me, having worked loads of game fairs, the fact that it gets you off the damp ground and has a built in bed, is a major plus point.

If it's dry/mildly damp I use a nato issue bivvy + gonk bag and rollmat - Cost £negligable
If it's sh*tting down, it gets thrown into the car and I kip on the back seat - Cost £0
If I'm any longer than 1 night, I pitch a 2-man tent - Cost £70

Sorry, but I'm out

Cheers mate, good to be getting some honest opinions. Would hate to be stuck with stock that won't shift!

My thoughts exactly, if i have gone to the trouble of driving to a place i would inflate my sleep matt and kip in the car, if i want to hunt in the wilderness i pack my lightweight 4 season tent and sleep matt, total weight about 5lb, in fact i reckon i can put up my tent quicker than he puts up that thing, horses for courses i suppose, but not for me.

Cheers
Richard

I only camp near the car so I am either in it or have a bigger pop up tent/awning and camp bed
looks a bit cramped for a set of wet boots/clothes, rifle etc and a 6'4" lard arse

pricey too at £130 I would say

sure it will suit someone's needs though

I saw these at the Midland and thought they look fantastic, great idea etc etc, but didn't go any closer than 10 metres away admiring the setup as I couldn't find a purpose for one, however hard I tried so didn't get in one or look at the price. If they had been £60 I think I would have still not been able to find a purpose. I appreciate the bonus of getting of the floor but then a good mattress of sorts does this and the above posts hit the nail on the head, where does all your stuff go? If you are going that far away from cars etc you need a good size tent to keep equipment dry. If you are next to the car there is no bother with having a big tent anyway that folds up smaller than one of these.

if it will fit me at 6ft 4 in ill take one in green , i always mke camp nr my truck where i have everything i need for both myself and the dog inc a steel gun box !!

please keep me informed ..

Would be fine for 3 months a year - tried a single skin tent (looked pretty similar but without raised platform) for the hill lochs, as was light to carry. It was late April or ealry May I recall, and it was not man enough for the job, even with big sleeping bag. Condensation is a real issue in single skin that would put me off. Fine, open up the vent, but if it's cold that's no good. And the price of said tent, £17.50, so that's the comparator (although raised platform will be a good thing with the cold).

agreed but what if you dont have suitable spot to park ones hammock ?

this is a bloody good idea for quick over night stlaking sessions .

lee if you have a roof rack have a pull out tube off the roof bars and hey presto happy hammocking, atb wayne

To be honest I recon you'd suffer from condensation dripping all the time. A good double skinned carp bivvy would be better and warmer. Room to make a brew or cook in them store muddy kit and stand up.

The only advantage I can see is it gets you off the floor and away from the ticks and three inches of rain running through your camp ( In the Scottish Forest )
