.22-250 Re-Barrel/Build

Finding a good gunsmith over here with any level of skill is next to impossible 🙄

Just buy another factory Tikka T3X and sell the old one.

Honestly that’s the way forward.

I am very good friends with @Ronin and he would most probably agree.

If a factory 22-250 has done what you need why bother.

A re-barrel will be over £700

Plus shipping.

A new T3X is about £1000.

Unless you want a fast twist it isn’t worth it.

Was going to go with a faster twist, read conflicting info on if its any advantage on a .22-250 so was going to give it a try and find out for myself, thinking 1:9 for 69-75 gr bullets,

Just something to play with really 😅

Here lies the proveb you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink.

Unless you are shooting over 400 yards with purpose it is not worth it.

I have no idea what your disposable income is. But plinking CF ammunition even when reloading is a good £1/round.

If you want to shoot for fun and as you are in NI I would be at a pistol range shooting cast lead through a pistol or carbine.

If you have the need to manage pests past 300 yards then all good and well investing in the appropriate equipment.

I have a .22-250 fast twist (by @Ronin), 6mmbr and a couple of 6.5 creedmoor barrels as well as a 6.5X47 and .308 and .243

I have access to an amazing valley in the centre of England than a few have shot with me. The idea is great. But when you realise you are burning through £100 ammo a day it’s shocking, every weekend for example. The barrel will do 2500 at half MOA if you are lucky.

Now if you you join a club and give purpose to the shots down range ie a comp then you may see it differently to me. I started shooting PRS to make me a better deer culler. But but when that got too Americanified I questioned the £200 entrance fee and requirement for attending the long range day as well. Please Note things have changed.

I was far at my happiest 10 years ago with a new rifle I knew intrinsically going out after a Fox or cull fallow.

Now days with social media it is so easy to get sucked in.
