243/6mmbr

If a person wanted more uhmph then the 6 PPC or 6 BR can muster but they want a short fat case I would suggest giving consideration to the 243 WSSM .

I had a 25 WSSM and it was a rather nice cartridge .

Fooled with a friends 243 WSSM in an AR and that thing was a very good shooter as well .

I have a 6BR and it's very accurate ,it's deadly on foxes ,I've used it on roe but was never very happy with the results ,I am building a .260 which I will use on all deer species. :old:

I have a 243 WSSM, I am getting over 3000fps from a 20" barrel with 100gn bullets, so anybody got any proven 6mm BR load data for a 100gn bullet from a 20" barrel which is big deer legal in Scotland? I don't want a 26" barrel plus moddy 18" would be ideal but I will settle for 20.

If you are getting 3k from 20" now
Even if you lost a full 100 fps per inch (unlikely) you would still be closer to the right side of deer legal with room to spare

Sorry mate bit of a unclear post, I have a 243WSSM which I am getting over 3000fps but I fancy a 6mm BR. I have edited my post to make it more clear.

why wasn't you happy with it on roe?

I had some good solid hits heart lung and still had runners ,most not far but some 100 metres or so.Went back to 6.5 -55 but now I'm going to go for .260 for the short action / reliable feed ,which the 6BR definitely wasn't.:old:

I have heard they don't cycle very well but im still very tempted, and reference the runners iv been out with the headkeeper and we`ve both shot a deer each from a herd me with a .243 and him with a .270, mine gone straight down and his ran both heart shot I suppose you can get runners with anything but it is interesting how they react
