.25-06 bullet choice

I used the Nosler 110 Accubond and 115 silvertip when reloading and Winchester 120 SP in factory because they were so cheap but accurate in my Rem Sendero they all did the job.

Aha, my apologies ...
I had no idea that Bullets had become so expensive .... more than £1 each for a .25-06 bullet is crazy.
I thoufgh approaching 50p each was too much.

No worries. Thanks for apologising. I agree the cost of some bullets has become ridiculous. Look at nosler partitions (£70+ for 50)…

Thanks All for the advice. I bought a few boxes to try, there doesn’t seem to be huge consensus so will try a few. But barnes 101lrx, nosler 110 AB, Berger 115 VLD, nosler 115 BT, and Speer 120 btsp are what I've bought. I collect my barrel tomorrow so we shall see. Planning on using RL26.

Good to see that Blaser are supporting this cartridge with the R8, i had 2 R93’s in 25-06 years ago and they were pretty much perfect for what i was doing then. Enjoy!

I used RL 19 for the 115 nosler very accurate and effective in the .25-06 I had.

25-06 is a pointless cartridge in my opinion but it has it fans

Its weight range is narrow and efficiency is poor
85-117gr 3400-3200 in factory form

Sure you can ring the neck out of it home loading but 60gr of powder to get a sub 140gr over 3000 is 1970s tech

For comparison i can get a 147 up to 3000 with 52 gr and a 24” barrel in a 6.5-285……

Unless you need to use non lead shoot the cheapest ammo you can to plink and play

Find one that works and go shoot it

Personal choice would be a 100-110gr run as fast as possible

They’re not unfortunately. A special order was put in, and 10 were delivered to the UK (minimum order without a surcharge). The Country Store in Cambridgeshire took 5 of them. There’s a few left. I asked David Beer (the Country Store owner) why he bought them, and he said he had a few R93 owners that had 25-06’s and were swapping over to R8’s. It’d be ideal in a K95.

This isn’t a comparison though is it? Case capacity yes, everything else no.

I have a 6.5 PRC that i shoot 156 gr bergers from… it’s great. I wouldn’t compare it to a .25 though.

The 25-06 i want is for shooting 101 LRX. QL Suggests 3400-3500 + fps with RL. 26, hardly inefficient.

I like rifles, so like to have a specific tool for specific for jobs. It ticks my boxes on paper anyway.
