30-06 or 308 or Creedmoor

Can always download the 0'six to equal the others, that can't be said about the other two..
No matter how you load the creed it will never equal the 30-06..

Ah no, that's old style thinking. I don't have a man bun but a tactical beard so obviously the creedmoor is my go to... The beard is the new man bun
So what about a man with long hair (no bun) but enjoys a cigar as opposed to a pipe? 😂I’m just curious as to what obscure calibre I would be prescribed…

Or why bother with any of 3 in the OP. Paul Mauser got it right first time with the 7x57.

Mild recoil

Good long bullet for excellent terminal effect and flat shooting

1 in 8 twist rate to stabilise those long bullets.

And plenty of case capacity to push heavy 162 and 173gn bullets at good velocities in modern strong actions.

I have a 30-06 and a 6.5 CM, I selected both these chamberings as there is a wide range of bullet weights for both. Plus the 06 will drop anything that walks…

If I had to pick one to keep it would be the 06, nice to shoot, smooth recoil. The 6.5 is also a joy and obviously less recoil although not really
noticeable.

If you are shooting all species the 06 would be good, if you are shooting mostly smaller species, munty, CWD and roe the 6.5 may be better.

I don’t really see the need for the wife’s version of an 06 (308) 😂

Cant wait to get my hands on mine next week!

The .30-06 may be an old calibre, but when paired with modern bullets, powders, rifles and scopes it’s still pretty hard to beat. It’s more versatile than either of your other choices unless you want to use it for target shooting.
I think the 6.5 could still be marginal on really big red deer but with a .30-06 you’ll be good for anything other than dangerous game.

Why listen to anything
Chose any brand of factory amo, look at the ballistic abilities of each and decide for your self.
Used all three own 3x 308’s a 20” and a 26” , both has it’s job/place. Owned a 30-06 in Africa, in my opinion a very good “bush” rifle/ light artillery
The main thing as we all know is the ability of the shooter/ shot placement rather than caliber choice

I cannot fault the creedmoor as an all rounder for Roe, Red and munty. Not had chance to use it in the Sika yet. 20inch Tikka T3x, DPT mod and Hornady ELDx.

Hi thanks.
Do the ELDx burn through in 20”?
I hear of flash, noise, and debris out of shorter barrels with current ammo.
RWS have quick burn ‘short rifle’ rounds but not yet in 6.5 CM

I have .243, 6.5x55, 7-08, 30.06 and 375, and like them all for different reasons/tasks but the rifle I reach for first from the cabinet most of the time is the ‘06 it just ticks the most of the boxes on my ground, i never know what will step out on my ground, could be a lowland red or a muntjac doe, as they say they can’t be to dead.
