Yes, a combination gun could be used, as far as I am aware. The rifle part of the combination would have to be of a deer legal calibre. The shotgun barrel of the combination could not be used on deer, except under certain very specific circumstances. Can you use a rifle/shotgun combination gun for deer hunting in the UK,or is it only centre fire rifles that can be used for this purpose?.

Depends on species and which part of the uk.What constitutes a 'legal' deer caliber?..In NZ its anything centre-fire other than a .22 Hornet (on public land) if its private property then this rule does not apply.
Nice piece! Is it a Browning 1886 or Italian? Sure is a beautiful rifle. You will enjoy it and the caliber. I don’t have an 1886 but I have a couple Marlins chambered in 45-70 and they are a real blast to shoot. You’re well equipped to hunt anything you want with that setup. Well done.
What are you leaning towards as far as rifle selection?
Just picked up a Marlin 1895 SBL. When I first saw these I really didn't like the look of them, however once I thought about the more practical aspects I started to appreciate a few features that will make this an excellent short range hunting rifle - threaded muzzle, side eject, picatinny rail so I can quickly whip off the scope and go back to iron sights if I choose to, stainless action and a 19" barrel long enough to get a respectable velocity but still a lot shorter than my other rifles. Just need a DPT .45 mod for it now, typically Bill is in NZ at the mo so I'll have to be patient, or maybe carry on regardless and annoy anyone in earshot just ever so slightly until he gets back.
Have you tried loading any subsonics?
Be aware that a brake will certainly reduce the recoil but it will simultaneously increase the noise. I have a first year Marlin Guide Gun with the factory ported barrel. It pretty mild in the recoil department, but it’s deafening in the noise department. Just don’t be surprised how loud it will be if you put a brake on it.I've got a Ruger Marin SBL, really liked the look from the start, its been very nice to shoot too.
I didn't ask for a mod with mine....they gave me a slot for one anyway, might just get a brake for it.
i have , it's outrageous funHave you tried loading any subsonics?
