6.5 x 55 ammo, auction house wont ship - Bedford

I recently bought a rifle at auction and saw that they also had some ammunition in another lot. Annoyingly, once I had won the bid, I found out that they wouldn’t ship the ammo, only the rifle so, having bought 92 rounds a reasonable price, I'm now faced with a 5 hour round trip to collect it...... does anyone know of a courier that will transport ammo at a reasonable price? OR, if not, would anyone who lives near Bedford like to buy the rounds from me cheap.....?

The difference is that the rifle can be sent via Parcelforce between RFDs, the ammo is much harder to ship as it’s classified as some kind of explosive.

Unless it’s very valuable ammo, I’d doubt it would make sense to secure a courier, if you can even find one. The below are the Hazmat delivery charges Spud publishes, I’d imagine he’s getting favourable rates as a trader, so you can expect higher.

thanks - I agree, likely to be false economy...... happy to pass them onto someone local or the auction house will have to resell them and, after their commission and VAT, I will recover a few pence.....

You could wait for an appraisal event near you & collect both lots?:-|Just had a look, you are out of luck on appraisal events ............... I did a full round trip from Chester down to Reloading Solutions, then across country to Holts & back home before T time, .................. Hereford to Holts Easy Peasy!:)

Hi
I will probably being taking lots to Southams for the Autumn sale, if the ammo is still there, as an RFD I could collect it, I think you are 40 minutes from me.
Thats really great of you dude, if only Southams were even 10% as helpful. I was in a similar situation trying to get a gun collected by an RFD and they were adamant that the person who won the bid had to be the person who paid and collected. A friend of mine who is 'servant of' Has had the same problem with his bids not being transferable to his employers ticket. Good luck but prepare for disappointment/irritation.

they were incredibly unhelpful. Hense I'd rather not have them auction the ammo for me, gaining yet more commission......
