Both me and the client kow its going to be real hard tonight and almost impossible but he's travelled up for 4 stalks from the other end of the country so were going out. But to work in this for nothing?

I'm not sure what your point is. The OP isn't complaining about lack of deer, quite the contrary, he and his son shot several good trophies (and paid for them).

His beef, which I agree with, is that the trophy heads mysteriously vanished, with unsatisfactory explanation, and no offer to make things right. I'd be furious too.

Let me add my piece.

Alvaro is unhappy the way he is treated. By what I read he got a fair case.

Now what I would do is quite simply the following:

1 A polite letter by registered post to the person/organisation you rented the stalking from stating why you where unhappy and what the other party should do to recompense you.
2 If no answer or acceptable offer in writing is received a 2nd letter advising the other party you will seek redress to the Small Claims Court. I normally find this wakes the other party up immediately.
3 But if they refuse you establish the costs of what you lost + travel, hotel and other items. Suing is an easy matter and if you need help on this send me a PM.

Hard but fair in my view.

I would be very wary of this advice.
The action described above would not have much chance of success in any uk court, and would most likely involve Alvaro in a very expensive legal mess.
Alvaro paid to go stalking and the chance to shoot MJ if they put in an appearance - thats what he got (with the exception of the MJ who apparently didn't show up as arranged). All Jelen would have to do to blow your case out of the water is to say MJ are wild animals and decided not to play ball. It would be up to Alvaro to prove otherwise, which realistically is not possible.

2 The other parties lost his trophies that is undisputed. The costs of shooting similar ones can easily be established.
3 Ever used the SCC yourself? It is the best thing in this country after sliced bread.

I took a Danish client out last night in pooring rain and thick fog he turned down a fallow pricket, we spotted 1 fallow doe, 2 fallow bucks, 4 roe does and one roe buck but didn't get a shot but he turned the shot down so outing fee applies !

3 stalkers out over weekend and shot 2 Roe bucks each and turned more deer down !

I recon the stalker was doing a back hander with a client, the boss had been away and had arrived back home unexpected! Stalker had to dispose of heads a bit quick!! Poor Alvaro was the inocent party in all this.! The estate probably know nothing of Alvaro!

I think one of the keepers saw the heads and thought they would look nice on his own wall or had a buyer for them!!
If they geniuinely lost the heads then surely similar animals should be offered at no cost. Surprised we havent had a new member from Mallard Barn putting their side accross.

this is why i said in my earlier post it is very wrong. I think that these posts will ruin the sd because in the last month there has been no end of comments complaining and instead of educating people into giving good stalking the reverse will happen and people will stop trying to help others out for fear of being dissed and slated already comments are being said of not advetising stalking leases and renewing trade membership . every trader on here i would think would if something has gone wrong sort it out because they are honest people and i would also think that it would be done face to face ,the only thing i see with bad posts is to cause agro and start trouble sit back and watch the fireworks while everybody jumps on a bandwagon ,atb wayne

I don't get it. If companies do a good job people tend to post their good experiences on SD, and other forums, tell their friends, and the company benefits from the recommendations. More than that, companies are not shy to ask people to post on the forums, because it's their best advertising, and cost nothing.


The flip side of that, is when people who have a bad experience, be it with paid services, or making a purchase, post their experience.

In the same way positive threads help us to make a decision where to put our money, and trust, so do the negative threads, and in some respects, are far more valuable, because they save money, and upset.

Good companies will do a good job for their customers regardless, even when things go wrong, as they can for anyone, they will do their best to put things right.

Bad companies should take note. Do a bad job, don't be surprised if your customer lets everyone know about it. At the very least, it should help them do the right thing !!!

What's important, is the account of the situation is true, and I accept that this can sometimes be a gray area.

i didnt actually say not to post a negative ,the thing i am against is posts that start with no actual facts or varifacation the recent post we still have actually had no introduction so this could be a totally made up story but everyone wants to cause grief, there should be some sort of process of actually discussing whats gone wrong with client / outfitter and if that breaks down talk to admin about putting a post up . that way it is factual and not a grudge . look at the posts involved now a few people want all sorts of rubbish to varify how good someone is at taking guys out when in reality its not difficult to actually talk to someone and get what you are looking for . me personally want my stalking to be difficult in hard going terrain with deer that are switched on to being shot that way when i actually get mine i have worked for it . i turned down a medal head last year as he wasnt in his colours he had just shed and was still white antler and it wasnt a great stalk so didnt take the shot i chose to move on and take another buck i have met some fantastic people on sd and wouldnt have had the oppertunities if it wast for the guys off here but if people keep moaning and having sour grapes things will end up alot worse as people will stop posting. atb wayne
