Anybody else ride motorcycles? Post them here.

I'm after some thoughts, opinions on my predicament.
the back story is,I was looking for a hobby to fil in my spare time in-between my keeping and other shooting commitments.
so I brought an old cr 250 to renovate, while awaiting for parts I bought another bike then another, then another and so on.
sold 2 of them and I am left with this question ? .
I have 4 kxf 250 one is done and 3 need rebuilding.
now it goes against the grain but the some of all the parts is worth twice what they will sell for complete.
would you break them or fix them ?View attachment 311221View attachment 311221
If you can afford to, fix them and keep them. Or at least one of them and keep the others as spares. They'll probably only increase in value should you ever wish to sell them and in the meantime you can ride them.

I subscribe to the theory of, sell the lot and keep one to ride. But, I might be on my own with that opinion. Anyway, I’m too busy as I’m in France on the bike at the moment enjoying the good weather and fantastic roads. Not one pothole so far.

Any particular trip or do you live there/here half & half?

No, definitely live in England. Over here for a week on the back roads heading south, just about to have 2 days on the twisty's then make our way back up towards Dieppe to grab the ferry. Then normal life returns. Potholes, traffic and cutting the lawn. Lol.

Tidy, may have to try a ride abroad.

You haven’t? You have no idea what you’re missing. I’m not really interested in riding bikes in the UK due to the miserable weather & the attitude of some car drivers but get me overseas & it’s all I want to do. There’s no greater pleasure than exploring a new country by motorcycle.

I've driven in Europe but not ridden. Nearly hired a CBR in Budapest for a ride around.

It'll be something that will have to wait until next year as this year is a house move.

The bike will get plenty more use this summer but seeing as car prices are inflated and I dont want to fork out loads on another car, Im going to Stage 3 my Fiesta ST this year.

180bhp straight to 360bhp, should be a fun toy.

I'm getting increasingly fed up with other riders. I live in a bit of a biking hotspot and they're out in force most weekends. Most people are absolutely fine but every time I ride I seem to encounter atrocious riding. I've had more near misses with other bikes exiting bends on the wrong side of the road because their road positioning is all over the place and they've completely messed their line up than I have from cars.
Bad overtakes is another one. Some people see another bike ahead and have to overtake just for the sake of it, often pushing themselves beyond their abilities in the process. I've had several riders overtake me when I wasn't exactly hanging about myself just to make a point, and they didn't even cross the centre line, practically brushing my mirrors as they go past and then panic braking at the next bend because they're looking at me in their mirror rather than looking through the bend.

I prefer riding off road these days my riding partner is also a stalker too .
We are lucky to have some great tracks near our homes .
Anyone else off road?

I'm going to sell my motor cross bikes this year and go for a more sedate green lane style of off roader.
my criteria will be in order.
1 electric start .
2 a more manageable power delivery and not one that will try to kill me every time I twist the throttle.
3 small and lightweight.
I'm recovering from a broken leg and trust me I don't want another.

ktm 2 strokes are brilliant I have had a 300 exc for a long time and it really improved my riding.
I had a 500 4 stroke before but engine breaking is a nightmare on slippery surfaces.

I'm thinking more XL or xt ,got to have electric start as I'm struggling with a kick start (joint and age related ) issue.IMG_20230430_101152.webp
