BASC Interpretation of yesterday's speech & Stalking

On the up side it's most enlightening to see the differing views of constabularies. From the regurgitation of Govt speech, not keeping up to date on Govt speech, to exercise your good judgement.

I think there's nothing wrong in wanting a warm fuzzy feeling prior to potentially being in the **** despite following guidelines...for example take Joe Blogs, wants to test his load development, exercises social distancing, travels to his permission in the middle of nowhere by car alone, doesn't venture into Wales or Scotland and yet if stopped will be sitting on a razors edge depending on the mood and mentality of the bobby who made the stop.

Now according to the Govt guidelines he's followed what he should...so why should he need to be worried??? Because there's no clear guidelines for the authorities to refer too and they will edge on the side of caution naturally.

The only difference between Joe Blogs and angler Fred Blogs who, followed the same guidelines, but fishes rather than shoots is a firearm and Boris didn't mention shooting specifically.

I think in general most lads here would simply like to be treated no differently to an angler, cyclist, golfer but because our sports instruments go pew pew we get shafted.

Did our PM saying I couldn't go out "shooting" in any of his speeches cause I don't recall it. We as responsible law abiding folk realised that to follow the government advice for C19 ment it would be impractical for 99% of us to go, so we stayed at home.
Then some folk started phoning Bobby's and the like in a vain attempt to swerve common sense.
So now after Sundays speech does our PM have to give us a list of every single, individual thing that we can do?
If playing golf or sitting on a towpath or park lake drowning worms is OK then so is stalking surely, its common sense to me.
As said many times above if your following the C19 government guidelines then what on earth are you doing wrong?
If you phone the Bobby's they will just give you a no to cover their back as its easier to refuse your request.

The chief of police can revoke your licences and then you end up in court trying to get then back after all isn't it the police that issue the ticket in the first place. man up yep no problem I'm man enough some folk would say I'm some man for one man but for the sake of a few days I think I'll wait until the police confirm it otherwise I'd be crying like a baby if they took it off me all for a few Clay's or a poxy pigeon

The police do not have the power to confirm anything. It is not in their gift to give you permission. And, I should imagine, apart from the very rare megalomaniac, nor do they want it. Your FAC, your country, your decision.

Boris did mention “Common sense”. As our cousins say “GO FIGURE” just don’t visit either of the caliphates.😆

Steve things are a changing slightly in Wales.
From yesterday you could visit a garden centre. Clearly someone in the Welsh Government has a relative who owns a garden centre possibly in the Vale of Glamorgan if we judge it by the queue of traffic waiting for it to open as shown by the news on the T.V. last night.
Also from next Wednesday (18th) you can play golf at your local golf club. Obviously some of the members of WAG are missing their golf.
Well if they will be able to pot a few holes I don't see why we shouldn't be able to pot a few holes. :stir:

seems a few of us want to be hoisted by their own petard.:scared:
perhaps some think we live in a police state.:scared:
I have been travelling to my shoot , a few miles, for essential conservation work ,security, and supplementary feeding.
I deemed deer, squirrel , fox control could wait a few weeks, but not for ever.
Now I consider it essential I get some done.
As far as I am concerned Boris has given us back some freedom to use common sense , stay alert,
and get back to normal.
Dont let this virus restrict us more than anyone else ,just because we shoot.
otherwise we will be controlled and restricted by stealth and attrition
Poachers, sheep rustlers, cash machine robbers, joyriders seem not to follow lockdown rules.
We are the most respectable law abiding citizens.
I do feel sorry for the lads in Wales and Scotland..... all that wild lonely self isolating country....Stay at home!??
well thats devolution.
:british::british:

Clay shooting is a grey area, see CPSA website, but how can crop protection, vermin or stalking be an issue so long as you comply with social distancing. Sitting on a lake fishing or sitting in a pigeon hide shooting what’s the difference?
It’s different because you have a gun.
That in the eyes of the law makes us a special case to be walked over whenever the Cheif doesn’t like the way you looked at the traffic cop last week.
Didn’t you know that it’s the Police that make laws and not Parliament. Silly boy.

Hi All
Please see Below email response just received from South Yorkshire Police

Can you advise from Wednesday 13/5/20 if recreational shooting (Pest control / Stalking) in now permitted obviously keeping to social distancing rules.
Your clarity on this would be much appreciated as it would appear that different areas have different rules?

Good afternoon
We are all good thank you, I hope it is the same with you.
At present we have received no update to the previous guidance so we advise that everyone complies with the existing rules until any clarification is received.

Regards,
Firearms Licensing / Warrants Administrator
That's me not going out in the morning then😡

I checked with my local Force earlier (NYP) - having seen that the acting head of licensing put a news release out (obviously fed up with the volume of query’s).

I ran this past the lead FEO, who is well aware of all the Shooting Organisation updates to date. Seems they have no issues if the Government C19 advice is followed and that authorised and requested Pest/Crop Protection and Livestock Protection remains the main focus of shooters.

Deer Stalking was not challenged to be fair only Clay Shooting and shooting for Leisure being classed as not appropriate (I assume rightly or wrongly this means basic target practice using Firearm or Shotgun).

So shooting creatures is good (subject to having a necessity) but paper, steel and little clays isn't.

The way I see it is , Wales and Scotland haven't changed any rules , England have

Crack on shooting in England , but I certainly won't be travelling to my perms in Scotland or Wales yet , not untill unlimited travel has been ok'd throughout the UK

Just not worth getting a pull at the borders
