Cerakote Firearm coatings, the facts.

Thank you to all who have PMd me, I now get what all the fuss is about!

What a load of horse poo at best!

So much for an unbiased site moderator, farcical! Shame really, it's a bloody top site just like SD.

james mate just checked your kit list and I'm afraid you'll never cut it in the gun trade without ahold dose of BULL####! Lol :D

I know a few on here are worried about how robust the finish will be, I was the same.
Last friday I collected my ASE SL5 mod from James, looked great and very happy with the colour and finish.
I managed to get out for the first time with it on Tuesday, it was a terrible afternoon, wet and muddy, and then it started raining very heavily.
I managed to fall over in the mud twice navigating my way around the lakes, the second time the moderator clouted a steel gate post with a
loud clang, by then I was pretty fed up and didn't even look to see the damage, just carried on trying to get back to the car, just to finish off
going through the last gate which is about front door size and framed in rusty angle iron, I clobbered it again
Not a great way to start with a brand new rifle, scope and moderator, the whole lot was plastered in mud, all except the scope which had a full
neoprene cover on it, although even that was full of mud. I washed the mud off with lake water and sponge, just as the last of the mud came
off the rain stopped and the sun came out, typical. Lol
I decided to walk back round one of the lakes to see by brother who was fishing, time he put the kettle on anyway, and I would get to dry out a bit.
While waiting for the kettle to boil I had a look for damage to the paint, not a single mark, I was amazed, and pleased I hadn't wrecked it on the first trip.

So for all who worry, don't it is just about bomb proof even when the going gets tough, and as a comparison, it is much tougher than the black coating used on Pes moderators.

Neil. :)

PS: hoping for a bit less drama on the next outing

Hi Neil

Nice to know you're out and about with the rifles and of course like me you dink them on things.

i hit the door of the discovery 3 times last week and the roof once with my newly coated ase cqb compact on the 20 tac, just left it to the end of the night and then looked  not a mark on it, so a quick spray of gt85 and put it on the heater then into the cabinet.

tougher than some of my fellow glaswegians who still eat glass for a giggle.

James

I will defiantly been in touch, very informative initial thread and loads of banter to follow. Lol.

Very impressed with the pictures on Bob's wooden stock.

Cheers

Tam

I am willing to ship / receive any Item to James (or any other UK dealer) that requires RFD transfer.
My rates for doing so are the lowest you will find...you have my word on that.
If you can get the items to me I will get them to James.
I'm based in Aberdeenshire so if I can help please get in touch.

Neil, it can't possibly be any good, I don't do the job properly remember, I don't even have the equipment like has been pointed out on another site...maybe I should start ripping the ar*e out of everything I do like the others. :)

Well, at least I finished rifling my 7mm barrel, hand lap tomorrow! :D

Hi James.

well what can i say :), very nice to meet you this morning on the way to a meeting with my boss,

we have not long arrived at this end and wanted to say a big thank you, the boss is well pleased (i had a good pat on the back for this one) and from what he said on the onward journey you will have some more things to do (not all gun related either ;) ).

The workshop was impressive to say the least and i can vouch for you on this one, you don't have enough tools to do the job,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,you have MORE THAN ENOUGH AND SOME :thumb:.

he was impressed enough to talk about it most of the way to sudbury where he has his meeting this morning.

again james thank you for the outstanding job done and i hope the wee job i left with you will be done soon too, the coffee was first class and i am sorry we did not have too much time to enjoy an even more detailed walk around but there was enough things in process for me and My boss to see just how it is done.

can't stop but will speak real soon,

regards and thank you

bob....and my boss.

ps: special visitors right next time ;)

James

Yes mate so I've heard, I'm not getting involved, can't be arsed, I'm on a hiding to nothing on there! Everything I do is to the best of my ability, I like to think everything I do is quality! My customers seem to think so and that's all I care about. Funny enough, I built a 243 for someone this week and it's shooting 1/4" at 100 with factory...quality! :D

Well having had my rifle ceracoated by a known smith (not this site) I have to say how disappointed I was.It was sent to a local RFd for me to pick up.I had been waiting for about 6 weeks for a smith to rebarrel my rifle which was done superb, then it was off to be ceracoated. When I took it out the box I was gutted. It was full of thick flecks like dust under the coating,it was all down the barrel and over the action.I sent it straight back and there were no issues with it being redone by the smith but I was appalled it was sent out like this.
I will not name names but money does not always buy the best job:old:
Dave
p.s my work will go somewhere else next time
