Cleaning patch stuck in barrel

its weird aint it, i use 1/18th patches in my 22c/f rifles, heck i even use the same patches in my 17 rem, but the other week i cleaned my mates 22.250, using my patches they were so tight i had difficulty pushing the patch through, after about 6 patches soaked it got easier, then he tells me its not been cleaned for 150 shots?, i could have chinned him. bs.

If it ever gets really stuck get a brass screw. Cut off the head and then somehow attach it to an old jag or directly to cleaning rod. - solder, drill and tab, araldite all come to mind. Then use the screw to bite into the patch and pull bits out.

I've found using a jag one calibre down from the bore works well - .204 for .224, .224 for .243, .243 for .270 & .270 for .308.
Still need a bloody good shove to get them through, even well soaked in Hoppes.
