Confused

In my T3 and various 150gr sp bullets (except hornady spbt, just doesn't like for some reason. Loves SST though) 46gr of varget always produces the best results in terms of accuracy in my rifle. I start at 44 and work up but always end up at 46 with Varget in my gun.

not insane, and if you look at my first post in this thread i simply said what i would do. I’d just like to know why its safe for a company to jump straight to a relatively hot load not knowing the charachteristics of a particular rifle that will shoot it, yet its dangerous for an individual to do so. Tell me you understand my question?
Asinine, not insane, I am sure you are entirely aware of what you are doing ;)

They may do a lot of testing, but my point is that their testing is performed in their barrel not the customers, no different to what you say i advocated with my 46gn safe load which was worked up and proved safe in many different match tollerance rifles by the british match rifle team (match tollerance rifles are more susceptible to generating higher pressures). Now theres a much wider sample base than 1 pressure barrel in a factory somewhere. The manufacturers safety argument might partly rely on the use of new not reloaded brass but the fact remains that velocity sells factory ammo and the manufacturers chose a velocity which generally falls within the higher accuracy node of peoples rifles, therefore when using a specific type of factory ammo for the first time you are effectively jumping straight to a high end load that has not been worked up to in your rifle.

Amen.

To put it bluntly; You're talking out of your bum.

Manufacturers & reloading manuals not only state what length barrel they use but also keep their loads "lawyer proof".

As for your "match tolerance rifles being more susceptible to generating higher pressures".

It's pure fantasy.

150gr in 308 has generally two node points with varget. One around 43-44, the other around 46-47. You need to try both and see which works. Then put them over the chrono to work out trajectory. As others have said I have always loaded to the 46-47 band mine is 46.5gr coal 2.825”

good luck.
